Foundation tips for mature women

Finding a foundation that provides flawless coverage and lasts the day can be a pretty difficult thing. When you’re young you’re up against issues of oiliness, battling base that slides off your face midway through the day. Then, as you age and your skin becomes more prone to dryness, the problem shifts to finding a foundation that doesn’t cake, flake or settle into fine lines.
So what’s the secret to achieving that flawless, youthful-looking foundation finish when you have mature skin?
Firstly, you need to prep your skin with a serum. This will not only work to hydrate your skin and ensure that your foundation doesn’t flake, but if you choose one that’s specifically designed for more mature skin, you’ll be simultaneously treating your anti-ageing concerns, too. For an extra powerful pre-foundation age fighting solution, apply Lancôme Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate in conjunction with Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector. Together, they’ll help hydrate, refine and even out your skin tone, as well as minimise fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and assist your skin’s repair process.
Next, opt for a treatment foundation. As you age, you’ll need more from your foundation than plain and simple coverage. Treatment foundations are formulated with hardworking ingredients that help to correct skin issues, such as discolouration, dark spots, and dark circles, as well as provide smooth, flawless coverage. Plus, given they’re targeting mature skin they’re usually more hydrating, too, so are less likely to settle into and exacerbate any fine lines or wrinkles. Lancôme Teint Visionnaire is one such foundation that ticks all the right boxes. Combining the advanced technology of Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector with the brand’s winning foundation formulation, it will leave provide long-lasting, natural looking coverage that leaves your skin looking smooth, even-toned and more youthful.
Finally, avoid heavy setting powders. These are great to use when you’re younger and you’re trying to combat an afternoon oil slick, but can leave maturing skin looking crepey and dry. If you’re using the fabulous products mentioned above your skin should be well hydrated and your foundation long lasting, so there’s really no reason to have to apply powders over the top.
Have you tried any of these Lancôme products? What are your tips for foundation application for maturing skin?

I haven't found a perfect foundation for me yet. I have tried expensive brands and more affordable ones but I feel the ladies at the counters often merely try to sell you something without really being concerned whether the foundation is the correct type or colour for you. I have become so frustrated and paranoid and am still hunting for that perfect foundation.

The Lancome foundation is on the top of my wish list after seeing so many positive reviews here. It's a brand I would not have considered had it not been for Beauty Heaven.

I love Lancôme but sadly out of my price range atm, have found L'Oreal Nude Magique BB and CC Creams give me a fabulous every day look at a reasonable price when I purchase on-line or on special.

I have not used any of these products, but have seem them advertised. They are very expensive and the reviews seem to be mixed, so I will probably not rush out to buy them.

I would recommend applying a hydrating primer to ensure the skin maintains its hydration and moisture levels.

Could you suggest a more affordable brand???I am "mature" and I'd love to use a foundation with extra skincare benefits but find most of the foundations formulated for mature skin to be too heavy for my oily skin, and make my skin break out.
