4 easy ways to look good at the gym

There’s always that one girl who knows how to look good at the gym. With her hair perfectly curled, her seemingly sweat-proof makeup plastered on, who’s jogging so slowly on the treadmill that there’s no way she could break a sweat. I usually giggle at this girl and then go back to working off the three Mars Bars that somehow found their way into my belly that day.

There are some days though when I would rather cut off my right arm than leave the house without makeup. So when you’re determined not to put on the winter weight, wearing makeup to the gym may become inevitable. (Especially on Wednesdays when the hot English trainer takes the class!).

The trick with wearing makeup to the gym is that you don’t want anyone else to know that you’re wearing it. So try and stick to a gym makeup routine that enhances your natural beauty. There are even some ways that you can improve your look without makeup at all. For example…

Eyes

There is nothing more tragic than sweaty panda eyes, so steer clear of mascara and eyeliner. If you’re blessed with naturally long lashes, simply try curling them with an eyelash curler. You’ll be amazed at the difference it can make. Or if you really can’t stay away from mascara, opt for a waterproof one like Clinique Lash Power Mascara Long Wearing Formula.

Skin

You don’t want to wear a heavy foundation or concealer to the gym for so many reasons. One, it’s pretty obvious you’re wearing it, and two, when mixed with sweat your pores can become clogged, which can lead to breakouts. Instead, use a tinted moisturiser or BB cream. We like Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream.

Lips

I wouldn’t suggest wearing a bold coloured lip to the gym, but a touch of colour can go a long way. Tinted lip balms are perfect for the gym as they keep your lips hydrated as well as looking good. Try Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake for natural looking pink lips.

Hair

If you have medium to long hair it isn’t very practical to let it fly free when working out. It’ll stick to your sweat, get in your eyes and is also potentially dangerous when using gym equipment. If you want good looking hair while working out, try straightening it and then putting it up in a sleek high ponytail. If you have a fringe or layered hair, a braid across the front of a ponytail is also a great way to combine beauty with practicality.
