5 Rimmel foundations put to the test

Rimmel London offers a lot of choice when it comes to foundations and BB cream, so we did the most logical thing we could think of and asked five bh team members (all of different ages with different skin tones, types and concerns) to trial five of them. These were the results…

bh’s Vanessa

Age: 21
Skin tone: Medium
Skin concern: Oiliness
Skin type: Oily/combination
Foundation needs: Longevity, shine control, medium coverage
Tried: Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

“I love the Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation! It comes in a little tube that’s super easy to use, and it effortlessly blends into my skin once I’ve applied primer. I found that a little goes a long way, so I apply little dots all over my face, then blend. To set, I just use a translucent powder, and I’m good to go! My T-zone area gets quite oily, and I often need to touch-up my make-up throughout the day, but when I use this foundation, it stays matte for longer. I will definitely keep using the Stay Matte Foundation.”

bh’s Issy

Age: 24
Skin tone: Medium
Skin concern: Oiliness
Skin type: Combination
Foundation needs: Light coverage with a matte finish that lasts 4-6 hours
Tried: Rimmel London BB Cream

“I’m not a big make-up wearer. I literally only wear it for special occasions, because I don’t like when it feels heavy and unpleasant on my skin. But after trialling the Rimmel London BB Cream, I think I’ve found something I could stick to! It’s light on my skin and absorbs and blends in perfectly to cover my blemishes and spots. However, if I did want fuller coverage, I could just build up the cream. I think the BB cream is great for work and casual weekends. Plus, it comes in a squeeze tube, which is helpful for controlling the amount of product you use.”

bh’s Carli

Age: 28
Skin tone: Light to medium
Skin concern: Dull complexion
Skin type: Normal (with an often oily T-zone)
Foundation needs: Longevity, medium coverage that evens out skin tone, keeps T-zone oil-free
Tried: Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25HR Nude Foundation

“One of my biggest concerns with foundation is how oily my T-zone can get in the middle of the day. On warmer days, my cheeks can get a bit patchy, too. I was really happy with how well this foundation lasted throughout the day, and I only saw minimal shine on my chin and forehead after a few hours. The formula didn’t glide on as easily as I would have liked (probably because it’s transfer-proof), but it did work to make my skin look more even and less dull. On days I wanted a bit more coverage, it was easy enough to build the layers without it looking cakey.”

bh’s Alicia

Age: 31
Skin tone: Light
Skin concern: Dry skin with occasional breakouts
Skin type: Dry
Foundation needs: Light, natural coverage that lasts
Tried: Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation

“Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation was not only easy to apply, but it also blended really well into my skin. I chose the Fair Ivory shade, and this was a great match for my skin colour. I also have sensitive skin, which is prone to dryness, but after applying this in the morning, my skin felt moisturised – and stayed that way through the day. The foundation worked with my skin type and provided light coverage, which is exactly what I am after. The pump applicator dispenses the perfect amount of product, limiting wastage and preventing any foundation explosions in your handbag!”

bh’s Kym

Age: Mid-40s
Skin tone: Medium
Skin concern: Light pigmentation, fine lines, dark circles and uneven skin tone
Skin type: Combination
Foundation needs: Light, reliable and long-lasting coverage that also evens out skin tone
Tried:Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation

“I’ve never used a Rimmel foundation before, so I was excited to try the Wake Me Up in Soft Beige 200. The nozzle squeezes out just the right amount, and even though the product is quite matte in texture, it is easy to apply with my beauty blender. The coverage is perfect for me – it’s natural without feeling too heavy on my skin, and cleverly creates an even, radiant complexion. There was no need to re-apply this during the day. I’m really impressed, and am pleasantly surprised by the price point of $19.95 –  I would have picked this as a more expensive foundation for the results it delivers.”
