Base Magique Primer Reviews

This primer needs to be PRESSED into CLEAN moisturised skin doing both of these steps before or during applying will make the product work properly. This primer is fantastic for fine lines and pores, I highly recommend it alongside a normal Oil free primer, using the Base Magique in problem areas and the oil free everywhere else. Doing so will help to make a smoother base. For example using this primer around the nose/cheek area and an oil free primer on cheeks, forehead etc.

I purchased this primer yesterday and already know that it'll be the only primer I'm going to use from now on. You need to rub it through your fingers before you apply it so it can warm up and smooth easily. It really does have a velvety texture and smooths on fantastic without and sticky or creamy feel. You can even wear it alone without foundation, it blurs out your pores and reduces unwanted shine. the only down fall I have with this product is the jar, it's a bit hard not to get it in your nails.

I think it's pretty great! It does what it says it will; smoothing fine lines, filling pores and making foundation sit seamlessly on top!
It is quite a thick product so I have found it best to apply using my fingertips. I also warm it in my hand a little which makes it easier for me to apply evenly.

It's a little annoying with the choice of packaging, being in a tub and needing to use my hands to warm the product makes it a bit unhygienic but I can look past that as the actual product is great

Base Magique is the primer that won me over to primers. Previously I confess I had only experienced cheaper products which were very runny and did nothing. My first surprise with this then was the thickness of the cream.

At first I was worried that because it was so thick it would be too moisturising for my combination skin and immediately predicted break outs a plenty. Not even a spot, I'm pleased to report!

I found it spread reasonably well, but other reviewers have mentioned warming it between your fingers first which can only help.

But once on the skin it is AMAZING. I have never felt such silky smoothness on my dial before. My foundation glided on with an evenness I still have to stop and appreciate. I feel my foundation length has improved but perhaps not enough for me to say for sure.

Either way I would continue to use it for the feeling of absolutely smoothness in look and feel.

I found the formula of this to be quite thick and hard to smooth over the face easily. I usually use a much finer liquid primer with a brush, this one is almost moussey thick and I would suggest having to use your hands to almost "melt in" the formula. Once on, while it feels soft I found it to be a little heavy on the skin especially as a base to foundation.

This silicone based primer is light pink in colour and has a very thick, almost waxy texture. A little goes a long way to smoothing out pores and minor textural imperfections. I use a tiny bit and dab it onto my skin around my nose and cheeks rather than rubbing it in. I find that it gives my foundation a very smooth base. It instantly mattifies the skin, however, it does not keep me matte throughout the day. It does nothing for oil control or extending the wear of my makeup in my oily T zone. It also does not stop my foundation from creasing into my laugh lines. Overall, it is a decent primer for filling in pores if that is your main concern but I need/want a primer that controls oil and stops my foundation from creasing and fading/melting.

L'Oreal tends to produce great products and this primer is no exception. It has a good consistency with a pink tint to the colour and provides very good coverage. It is easily spread over the skin and you only need a small amount to cover the whole face. It does help to reduce the appearance of pores and makes the skin look smoother. I also think it does help the foundation to last longer, which is exactly what you want from a primer. It has a pleasant, soft scent, which is a bonus.

I like it but I have found that if I used too much it would go all patchy and flaky. Its great for keeping my dry skin hydrated. I do find the container a little annoying as you can often end up taking more out that you need (pump would be better)

In terms of good primers which provide a smooth, hydrated feeling this primer is not even average. I have tried this about 2 - 3 times.

I'm really disliking the results. It doesn't feel smooth, moisturizing or hydrating on my skin at all. If anything, I feel like it just does nothing but dry my skin out and result in my foundation looking very patchy and uneven.
Simply using a moisturizer provides me with better results then this foundation does. I'm so disappointed, I was expecting much more and can't say I am glad at all with the quality of this primer.
