The easy way to choose false lashes for your eye shape

Applying false lashes is one of the biggest challenges you can face in the beauty world. So when you do manage to get them on, you want to make sure they look good.

Just like eyeliner, your eye shape plays a big role in knowing which design and shape of falsies will suit you best. So keep this in mind the next time you’re picking out a pair…

Look for: Lashes that are denser or longer towards the outer edges to give your eyes a winged, flattering shape.

We used: Artémes Rumour Has It, $35, www.artemeslashes.com

But you can also use:MODELROCK Lashes Russian Doll – Double Layered Lashes

Expert tip: “The band length [on false lashes] sometimes needs to be trimmed down to match your natural lash line as they can be made quite long.” – Rachael Brook, Chemcorp Beauty Expert

HOODED EYES

Look for: Strip lashes that have a mix of long and short hairs to give you fullness along the lash line, but length to open up your eyes.

We used:Glam by Manicare Sienna Lashes

But you can also use:1000 Hour Natural Lashes in Envious Black

Expert tip: “Most full sets of false lashes are reusable, [but] it’s often really obvious when they have been reused because they will be layered in old make-up. Make sure to always clean the lashes before reusing [them] so they look more natural!” – Rachael Brook, Chemcorp Beauty Expert

MONOLID EYES

Look for: Denser lashes that have a criss cross pattern or a mixture in lengths, but are longer towards the tips. Avoid wispy, long lashes as they can look unnatural on this eye shape.

We used:Glam by Manicare Glameyes Miranda Lashes

But you can also use:1000 Hour Natural Lashes in Wicked Lush

Expert tip: “[When it comes to lash removal] usually just showering [them] with warm water will loosen them up so you’re able to slide them off with ease. Otherwise [you can use] a make-up remover or if you’re really struggling to loosen the glue I’ve heard coconut oil is great!” – Rachael Brook, Chemcorp Beauty Expert

SMALL EYES

Look for: Individual lashes to apply on the outer corners to open your eyes up without too much of a dramatic change. Or if you prefer a full strip lash, go for a light and natural pair.

We used:Ardell Individual Lashes DuraLash Flare Medium

But you can also use:ModelCo Flutter False Eyelashes

Expert tip: “Individual false lashes make it very easy to customise the lashes to your eye shape. Use a tiny amount of glue on the tip of the individual lash and allow it to become tacky before applying. I like to use tweezers to apply individuals.” – Rachael Brook, Chemcorp Beauty Expert

ROUND EYES

Look for: Lashes that have slightly longer hairs towards the middle of the band. The lash band will form a slight V-like shape to really draw attention to your peepers.

We used: Artémes Twice Bitten, $39, www.artemeslashes.com

But you can also use:Eylure Lengthening Lashes 035

Expert tip: “My best application tip for all eye shapes is to try to apply them while looking down rather than closing your eyes (you may have to move your mirror around to suit). [This helps] to avoid getting your top and bottom lashes stuck together.” – Rachael Brook, Chemcorp Beauty Expert
