Falsies 101: All you need to know

They’re not too tricky to master, but if you haven’t used false lashes before the idea can be somewhat daunting. Well, fellow falsie-fearer, now is the time to get on board. Come on, let’s learn how to conquer false lashes for good!

Here are some handy tips on how to apply false lashes:

#1 Curl your natural lashes, then give them a good ol’ coat of mascara.

By prepping your own lashes beforehand, you’ll get multiple use out of the one set of falsies. #budgetlife

#2 Let your lashes be your guide

Half the battle is finding a pair that’s right for you. Get up close to a mirror and assess your real lashes. Are they quite short? Resist the urge to go for the Kim Kardashian effect. The same goes for you long lashed-lasses: don’t try to fill them with a bulkier style. Aim to enhance your lashes, not contrast them.

#3 Bend and stretch

Strip falsies can be a little stiff, so loosen them up by bending the lashes into a soft C shape and holding for a couple of seconds. This will ensure the lashes mould to your curved eye shape and stay that way!

#4 Take the edge off

Always, always, always measure the lashes against your own eye shape and trim to fit before applying. Use a pair of nail-scissors to trim your lashes to size, cutting from the outer edge and working inwards. Ill-fitting lashes will attract attention for all the wrong reasons.

#5 The trick is in the glue

Use a high quality glue that sticks – there’s nothing worse than having a droopy, distracting lash hanging in front of your eye. Apply a generous, even coat of glue to the strip of the lash, and wait 30 seconds for the glue to go tacky before applying. If you’ve got a case of the shakes, just put glue on the reverse end of your tweezers and glide it across the strip.

#5 Grab your tools

A girl’s best friend, tweezers make applying lashes super easy. They allow for precision, and will help you to gently nudge your faux pair into place. First timers, you might want to try out a lash applicator for flawless, fast placement.
