Finishing powder – confused

Hi Beauties

Hope you can clarify something for me. Is a finishing powder the same as powder that you apply after makeup, such as a transclucent powder or is it something different? I see the term used frequently and need some clarification.

If finishing powder sets your makeup better than what I think is regular powder, what are your recommendations?

Thanks. x

I find they are pretty much of a muchness I have used various types, I do prefer translucent, but you can get them tinted as well, or just plain white, they all do the same thing in my opinion, help set your makeup and for those with oily skin like me they also help control the shine 🙂

Translucent powder appears like very light loose powder (like ivory or beige etc)and a lot of finishing powders look like white powder or ‘baby/cornstarch’ powder but obviously that’s not the ingredient in it- and it feels really smooth!

Ive used this one from L’oreal- good staying powder but quite expensive for my expenses though

Finishing powder fulfills the same purpose as translucent loose powder. The term is used mostly in regards to mineral make-up.

im pretty sure finishing powder is the invisible one that holds everything how you left it, and normal powder will add the colour.

ive never tried normal powder but im gonna assume finishing would work better. i knew someone who had some from Australis, in a little purple container, she said it worked really well.
