The cat that got the cream

So the regular beauties around here will all be aware of my slight issue with my LML (Lack of Mobile Lid) – in that my eyes are just too shallow-set to be able to do too much with eye make-up. You have to understand that for me, this is almost the equivalent of a doctor with no ears for a stethoscope (okay, maybe I’m being a little dramatic there…)
I go to great lengths to be able to find new ways to doll up my eyes, and one thing that I’ve found works really well for me that doesn’t always go well for others is cream eyeshadow. Let me explain why.
As my lids are quite shallow, I don’t have many lines around the socket, and what is cream eyeshadow’s biggest downfall? That’s right, settling into lines and creases! Cue big Cheshire Cat-like grin.
But don’t fret; people with PML (Plenty of Mobile Lid) can also experience the joys of a silky, shimmery cream shadow too. Want to know how? Simply prep your eyelids with a great primer. I suggest Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Prime Time Eye Primer, which provides a smooth, crease-free canvas for your eye make-up.
Next, take to your lid with a creamy shadow, starting with a thin layer and building up intensity to your taste (we love Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow for it’s long-wear smear-free formula.) Just try not to blink for a few seconds after application! To finish your look, dab some finishing powder over your shadow. A translucent shade will ensure the colour isn’t muted. Napoleon Perdis Translucent Loose Powder is perfect for this (and lasts ages.)
What is your trick for dazzling eyes everytime?

Would love to try Bobbi Brown! To have dazzling eyes? I use Surratt curler for those glam looking lashes (pops open the peppers like nothing else!) and some bright coloured eyeliner (in dusts, pencils...whatever)

Thank you Liv for explaining the virtues of Bobbi Brown's cream eye shadow. I too don't have much eye lid space.

White on inner corners of eye and shimmer on brow bone, and a shimmery silver eye shadow as background.

I love coloured liner. Unfortunately I have far too much mobile lid so I can't go without eye primer at all if I want my eyemakeup to stay put for longer than 2 minutes.

A very thin line with a brown eye liner, little bit of vaseline for a glossy glow and a coat of mascara. Simple yet elegant. If I make my eye area to heavy/busy my whole look is ruined. I have tried so many times, simple works best for me look.

Preping eyes with UDPP and smokey eyeshadow with liquid eyeliner, eye pencil in noir on the waterline with heaps of mascara and highlighter on the brow bone.

dont use benefit's creaseless cream eyeshadows though. they dont do a very good job so unless you're happy to do touch ups from a colour that you absolutely love, stay away.

Highlight the brow bone; bit of white in the inner corners and tightline to make your lashes look thicker (:

Loving your awesome tips Olivia, thank you! I would also like to suggest using Benefit's cream shadows as they are quite pigmented and very easy to apply.

Oops, let me try that again. I find using highlighter under my eyes and on my brow bone gives me dazzling eyes every time. Thanks for these great tips, Liv! : )

I love to experiment with my eyeshadows. I love to wear teal, purple and smoky eyes these days with eyepencil on lower lid and liquid eyeliner on the upper eyelid with lots of mascara.

Yay, glad the comments are working again :) Great ideas here! I am yet to try cream eyeshadow but think it might be a great idea as I do have crinkly lids and dry skin so even a cream blush would be great. I have seen Bobbi B's cream blush and love some of the colours :) My trick for dazzling eyes- white liner on the inner rime and/or inner corner to brighten up a tired eye!

I can't go wrong with eyeliner on the inner rim of the eye. I have PML so lining my upper lid can be a bit tricky cos if it's not straight it is very noticable. I like to apply eyeshadow where you normally apply the eyeliner on the upper lid and it looks great.
