How to wear glitter eyes for a party makeup look

It’s party season, so glitter is officially in! Personally, I’m a BIG fan of glitter eyes for a party makeup look. It’s not as messy as glitter lips (read: it won’t end up in your champagne) and depending on which eyeshadow you use, you can choose to go for a subtle, sophisticated look or full-blown glamour.

Here’s how to get a festive glitter eye makeup look, two ways.
The subtle look
For a simple glitter eye that isn’t overly obvious at first glance, try using a glitter eyeliner instead of eyeshadow. You might think that a glitter eyeliner would be more extreme than the shadow option, but a single winged line along your bare top lid is subtle and chic. I like the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Grind, which leaves a hint of pink liner on your eyelid. This look is subtle, but false eyelashes will take it to the next level, without looking too over the top. Try a natural-look false lash like the Glam by Manicare 52. Emily Mink Effect Lashes.
The Extra look
If you’re after something that people will definitely notice, you need a glitter cream eyeshadow. The trick with glitter eyeshadow is to keep the rest of the look simple - don’t complicate things by adding highlighter to your inner corners or building up a darker shade in your crease. Stick to one colour and add a slick of liquid eyeliner, that’s it. The Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Kitten Karma is universally flattering and won’t budge once it’s applied. Then, apply a liquid eyeliner like Avon mark. Mega Effects Eye Liner. If you want your eyes to pop from a mile away, find a shimmery powder eyeshadow in a bright shade - hot pink or electric blue are my favourites - and use an eyeshadow brush like the Glam by Manicare Blending Crease Brush to press the shadow onto the centre of your eyelid.

Yup, love glitter and could get away with some look for NYE even at my age. Man, why not even at any time just for some fun =D (with no base and all that shiraz, just simple statement light eye glitter or foil!)
On that note, since I suck with makeup, I am just probably end up with glitter all over in my hair =D

Love the gold glitter look in the main pic at the top, it's a perfect look for New Years - not too showy but with a hint of glam. Interested in the glitter eyeliner, need something fun for the festive season!

Shimmer foils for lids yes, chunky glitter? No way! Wouldn’t risk it getting in my eyes. If using loose powders or glitter use makeup fixing spray

OHHHHH as much as I just love the concept and effect there's no way I'd be game enough to try glitter on my ridiculously sensitive eyes. I can't even use mascara so I'll give it a miss!! I am however still loving the Model's Own Barely There palette I was so lucky to get in the Spring Discovery Bag - it doesn't compare with glitter but I can use it and I love it! Thanks one more time, BH.
