How to wear blue eyeshadow and look good

If I said to you, “Hey! How about you give blue eyeshadow a go today?” you’d probably laugh in my face, right? Because whenever anyone mentions blue eyeshadow, our minds all jump to some variation of this:
Well, blue eyeshadow actually can look good – so I found out on the third day of my blue eye make-up challenge. It’s just about finding the right colour and applying it in a way that doesn’t scream “I travelled to the future from the 80s and I wasn’t leaving this trend behind.”
Using the Models Prefer Mineral Eyeshadow in Smouldering Hot, I chose the denim blue colour and added hints of the glittery navy shade to my lash line, and as you can see, the results are surprisingly subtle. And good, if I do say so myself.
Here’s how you can recreate the look on yourself (do it, I dare you!):
1) Apply a medium-blue shade to the outer corner of your eyelid.
2) Use a blending brush to blend the colour across your lid to the inner corner and up to your brow bone. There should still be more pigment at the outer corner, but if not, apply some more to the outer corner.
3) Take an angled liner brush and load it with some navy shadow. Line your top lash line and the crease of your eyelid. Blend again.
4) For a more shimmery finish, apply a touch of silver eyeshadow to the centre of your eyelid – right on top of your eyeball.
For the same subtle finish, you can try these navy eyeshadows and palettes:

And if you really want to go all out, try one of these popping shades of blue:

I have different shades of blue eyeshadow at home but I don't think I like blue on my eyes. It kinda looks old on me.

Great tips and I actually wear blue and purple eyeshadow. I know your asking yourself who's this crazy female. I think less is best, it's great you can mix a couple of shades for different colours like grey and blue for smoky. Apply a little bit at a time and blend blend blend with a brush while adding more colour if needed and don't take it up th the eyebrows. Major mistake, so give it a go once you get use to it you'll love the look.

I see someone said that blue eyeshadow screams 70's, yet I think it screams 90's lol I can only picture Irene from Home & Away. I've only ever had blue eyeshadow on myself blended with a bit of pink for bright outgoing looks. I guess I could give the whole blue look a try though. I can always take it off lol. Besides, if you know how to apply it properly you have a better chance.

Wow that looks awesome! When I was in high school I used to wear an electric blue eyeliner. Now that I'm a bit older I'd wear a metallic blue cream eyeshadow like that Smitten one.
