6 of the best organic and natural make-up brands

These days, we’re savvier about the things we want to buy (thank you, Internet!), so we’re a bit more discerning about what actually ends up on our bathroom shelves.

If you’re now obsessed with stocking up on all things natural and/or organic but haven’t quite found the make-up brands that fit the bill, here are a few of our faves:

INIKA Cosmetics

The brand is dedicated to providing women with natural cosmetics, and the range incorporates mineral make-up as well as vegan and organic products that are free from synthetic chemicals and other harmful ingredients. You can expect to find a mix of make-up products that are either Certified Organic, or 100 per cent pure mineral make-up.

bh top pick: Mineral Foundation

The multi-tasking powder can be used as a concealer, foundation and powder, and delivers flawless coverage that won’t clog pores. And it has SPF20 – what a bonus!

Zuii Organic

The Australian-made brand gets the tick of approval from us, as it’s free from parabens, talc, GM ingredients, and petrochemicals, and doesn’t test on animals. It’s also all about combining Certified Organic flora products and natural ingredients with essential oils, vitamins and minerals to improve the health of your skin while making you look and feel fabulous.

bh top pick: Certified Organic Flora Maxi Lash Mascara

Certified Organic ingredients include geranium flower oil, cocoa seed butter, aloe vera juice and honeysuckle extract (amongst others). Plus, it applies smoothly and evenly to lift and separate each lash, leaving your lashes looking more defined.

Ere Perez

Inspired by her grandfather who practiced natural medicine using the healing properties of plants, Ere Perez decided to create a make-up range based on natural ingredients. The products are also free from perfumes and chemical colourants (so all the colours come from natural pigments).

bh top pick: Versatile Vanilla Highlighter Sun Halo

The creamy formula applies like a dream to illuminate skin and leave your complexion looking positively radiant. It’s the perfect way to try your hand at the new make-up phenomenon of strobing.

Ilia

Ilia is what happens when organic ingredients and high fashion colour collide. The brand is committed to product purity (the products contain up to 85 per cent organic botanicals) and producing products that work well.

bh top pick:Lipstick

These babies are just as pigmented on your lips as they are on the bullet, and they’re super-nourishing, too. Boasting the moisturising qualities of cocoa butter, jojoba oil and vitamin E, your lips will comfortable all day long.

Lavera Natural Cosmetics

The brand prides itself on being one of the healthiest and safest ranges of natural cosmetics and organic skin care products on the market. The make-up products are made from 100 per cent natural minerals, flower extracts and organic oils, while the skin care line is made with Certified Organic ingredients.

bh top pick: Cappuccino Eye Quatro

There are so many reasons to love this compact, but here’s our shortlist: 1) the shades are ideal for creating a subtle everyday look or a layered, glam one, 2) the shadows contain natural, organic ingredients of jojoba oil, argan oil and shea butter, and 3) the formula is dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested, so those with sensitive eyes can go nuts with a smoky eye!

Bite Beauty

With a tag line saying, ‘Formulated with ingredients that are good enough to eat’, you can be sure that you’re giving your lips a healthy dose of the good stuff. Oh, and the shade range of the lipsticks, lip glosses and lip crayons doesn’t disappoint.

bh top pick:Lushfruit Lip Gloss

Packed with organic ingredients (like shea butter and jojoba seed oil) and completely edible ones (like strawberries, coconuts, avocados and raspberries), this gloss will keep your lips in top knick. And you can expect the colour to come out exactly the same as you see it in the tube!
