The Wiggles’ Emma Watkins shares her daily beauty routine

If you haven’t heard of Emma Watkins, show the closest kid under seven and I’d almost guarantee they’re a huge fan.

Emma started with The Wiggles in 2010, and has since done thousands of shows with the children’s entertainment troupe.

If there’s anything hours of performing, weeks of international tours and a hot, sweaty costume can teach you – it’s how to really nail down your beauty routine so it’s effective but fuss-free.

Luckily for us, Emma shared an entire 24-hours of her beauty and wellness routine with Allure, so we were able to comb through it and find all the nuggets of beauty wisdom she dropped throughout.

Morning skincare routine

Step 1.  “I wear makeup every single day. If I feel like I haven’t gotten the makeup off from the day before I’ll use a Go-To exfoliating swipe before I start again”.

Step 2.  “Kora Organics Gentle Facial Cleanser” (sephora.com.au, $40)

Step 3. Noni Glow FaceOil (sephora.com.au, $30) and Rose Quartz  Heart Facial Sculpter (nourishedlife.com.au, $74.95) – “It’s such a mild oil, and I put it on with my rose quartz heart, which makes your skin feel nice and cool. You can put it in your fridge so it’s even cooler.”

Step 4.  “Because my skin is so fair, I use Zoe Foster’s Go-To Sunscreen, which is a zinc sunscreen (gotoskincare.com, $45).”

Pre-show makeup routine

Emma likes to keep it nice and simple – “I’ll be honest, my makeup probably takes me ten minutes”.

“My philosophy, especially with Emma Wiggle as a character, is that we try to make myself look as doll like as I possibly can. I tend to notice the less makeup I have on the more the kids feel like they can talk to me. In terms of the colours that I use on my fac,e they’re all very pale. It’s all very bright and light”.

Concealer – BareMinerals bareSkin Complete Coverage Serum Concealer (mecca.com.au, $32). Emma rates this concealer because “It’s light, it’s not sticky”.

Foundation –  Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (adorebeauty.com.au, $99). Loved by Kim Kardashian and Megan Markle, it makes sense Wiggle Royalty would be a fan. “It doesn’t feel like you’ve got a whole cake on your face. Especially once you’ve done one show and you sweat a lot, you don’t want to have to keep having to put heaps of layers on top.”

Lashes – “I have eyelash extensions. This has been the most helpful situation when I have so many shows in a row. It just saves so much time.”

Face powder –Studio Fix Pressed powder from M.A.C, then a translucent powder, it just helps my skin not look so orange.”

Blush – For rehearsals Emma will dust Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush (mecca.com.au, $61), but then just before the show she’ll use something a bit more heavy duty. “I don’t really use any bronzer, cause most of the time in the show we get so hot that my face gets colour anyway. Before the show [when the hourglass blush has worn off] I use a more matte blush [M.A.C Powder Blush] to get that more cherub cheek kind of vibe”.

Highlight – Emma swears by another Hourglass favourite, Hourglass ambient lighting powder (mecca.com.au, $73). “I straight away put it on the tip of my nose. And a bit on the top of my lip. And then I use a small brush to highlight the inside [inner corner of the eye].

Eyeshadow – Emma uses M.A.C Longwear Paint Pot with a M.A.C sparkle pigment over the top. “I put the lighter one in the middle of my eye. The dark one I put on the corner.” She then dusts a light sparkle, a M.A.C loose pigment, over the top.

Eyeliner –  Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner (mecca.com.au, $34). “I just do a really clean line, nothing too fancy, and then I fill it in”.

Brows – Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Pomade (sephora.com.au, $33) is Emma’s brow product of choice. “I don’t really use much of this. It’s the blonde colour. Because I used to be a blonde.”

Lips –  “I use a lip liner [Soar by M.A.C] over a lipstick now because it stays for longer, and then before the shows I add a lip colour. And then paw paw which I’ve used for so many years”.
