When the real thing is sold out or not currently financially viable — it’s important to keep your ear to the ground for a worthy dupe.
Case in point: The internet has uncovered a budget-friendly product to rival the viral-on-TikTok Il Makiage Woke Up Like This Foundation ($74 from Il Makiage).
Why is this so impressive? Well, Il Makiage has managed to create a foundation with a flawless finish, an innovative formula, and 50 shades that promise to blend effortlessly with any skin tone.

The affordable beauty brand that’s managed to crack the secret to Il Makiage’s formula (without breaking one’s budget) is also Jennifer Coolidge approved. Plus, it’s stocked in your favourite discount retailers — Target and Kmart.
Everything we know about e.l.f. Cosmetics foundation dupe
Similar to the Il Makiage OG, e.l.f. Cosmetics’ Flawless Finish Foundation ($6 from e.l.f Cosmetics) is said to deliver medium-to-full coverage. It’s also suitable for all skin types. Plus, both foundations are described as lightweight and promise to deliver a natural, streak-free, matte finish.

In saying that, one of Il Makiage’s best attributes is its vast shade range. Itactually has one of the most diverse shade offerings on the market with 50 different options to choose from. We love to see it.
Where does the e.l.f. range measure up in comparison? Well, interestingly enough, the foundation used to be available in 40 shades. However, you’d be hard-pressed to find more than 20 shades on the brand’s website or other retailer’s websites. Which leads us to believe that this affordable find might be discontinued soon. Fingers crossed it’s just being taken off shelves to be reformulated. But, regardless, it’s a great excuse to stock up on the dupe while it’s still available.

Have you tried the e.l.f. Cosmetics foundation? If not, what is your current go-to foundation?
I don’t use foundation but love reading these articles about dupes.
I dont use foundation either but am thinking, as I get older, perhaps it would be a good idea to help cover some of the lines??
Me too – interesting insight
No I like a bit just to cover marks
elf has always been pretty good quality for the price
I used few E.L.F. products before, never tried the foundation.
I only like a very light coverage so I’m using L’Oreal Plumping Serum Foundation, and Revlon Illuminance.
But where is it manufactured?
A lot of Kmart dupes are Made in China.
Ohhh this is interesting I can’t believe I still haven’t tried this foundation. Love reading a good dupe thread though
Yes and so much more affordable
$14 !! Sounds like something good to look out for?
really, hmmmm, how interesting…. elf prices have gone through roof
Not needing foundations atm, my skin is better looking without it. Light sheer tint would not mind once in a while though.
I’ve tried an e.l.f. eyeshadow from a Kmart clearance bin & it was great!
My chemist has a clearance bin and I usually check through it while waiting for my prescriptions. Sometimes there are great things in there.
I love E.L.F products! Might have to buy their foundation
I’ve never tried them but I’ve read good things about them.
I’ve never bought any make up products from Target before
It’s good know about brand alternatives and value for money products .
Sounds good value
Hot tip for those who are looking for more wallet friendly products
Always good to hear about affordable dupes
Nice one.
I only ever see ads for Makiage. Tik Tok is hardly reputable and rife with disingenuous influencers. No thanks.
I haven’t tried this, but I have been thinking that I need a new foundation.
I’m willing to give it a go.
I recently wore foundation and used Dior, but i have never tried kmart make up, i always worry
Sounds like a good product at a more affordable price
I haven’t tried the elf foundation
I haven’t tried this but would. I’m currently into powder foundations – feels more comfortable for everyday wear.
I’m in the market for new foundations. Might need to take a look

I’ve tried it and agree
I hardly ever wear foundation. It doesn’t really suit my skin.
well that is good value
I prefer a little concealer to using foundation these days
Always good to hear about a dupe that is more affordable
I’ve been using tinted moisturiser lately, struggling to find a suitable foundation.
$6 is very cheap for a foundation.
At $6 Elf is certainly worth trying !
Might have to give this a try!
I’d try it. I have liked all the other elf products I’ve tried so far. Their brushes are excellent too.
elf has some great and affordable makeup options.
I use foundation every day would love to try this.
I haven’t tried ELF foundations so far, my favourite drugstore foundation is Maybelline Fit Me dewy + smooth and Maybelline Lumi-Matt.
