Easter beauty inspiration

by

Beauty guru Lauren Conrad went all out last year with her #adorable Easter bunny ears – and now it’s your turn to get into the holiday spirit. No, I don’t mean stuffing yourself silly with chocolate eggs (although I highly recommend that) – I’m talking about your beauty look. With its edgy metallics, pretty pastels and chocolate browns, Easter provides a virtual smorgasbord of skin, hair and make-up inspo. Here are some top-to-toe ideas to get you started…

Skin:

To kick off your Easter beauty prep, treat your skin to a good-enough-to-eat mask. Our members love the chocolatey zk’in organic Brightening & Hydrating Masque and the Montagne Jeunesse Chocolate Mud Masque. Just be sure to use your hands – or better still, a dark-coloured cloth – to wash the mask off once it’s worked its magic. Otherwise, you’ll end up making a chocolatey mess! To keep the Easter theme going, follow with a cocoa-scented moisturiser. The Palmer’s Skin Perfecting Moisturizing Day Cream is super nourishing yet fast-absorbing – perfect for readying your skin for make-up.

Make-up:

For a fun Easter make-up look, embrace pretty pastels. There’s a shade to suit everyone, but my personal favourites are pale lilac, baby pink and icy pale green. Of course, you won’t want to rock all three at once so if you can’t choose, go for a lilac eyeshadow  – it’s universally flattering. We love Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadow & Liner in ‘Fashionista Eyes’. For an extra festive look, sweep some silver glitter over the top (a la Amanda Seyfried, below). A slick of glittery eyeliner, such as one from the Chi Chi Glitter Eyeliner Set, is also great for adding a subtle sparkle. Alternatively, you could try a bold, pastel-coloured lip. Our members rate the Maybelline SuperStay 14hr Lipstick in ‘Perpetual Peony’.

Hair:

For an Easter-rific ‘do, continue with the pastel pattern and spray a bit of coloured hair chalk on your ends. You don’t have to replicate the bold runway pastel hair trend below – just a spritz at the very ends will be enough to catch people’s attention. Try Lady Jayne Colour Bomb Hair Chalk, which comes in a pretty pastel pink hue, or for a bolder look, Scunci Hair Chalk (I recommend the emerald green colour). The best part about this look? It’s a lot more fun than your run-of-the-mill balayage – plus, it’s only temporary, so you can easily wash it away at the end of the day!

Nails:

If you prefer to stick to your tried-and-true hair and make-up for #easterselfies, do up your nails instead. bh’s Carli’s Easter nail tutorial is quick and easy, plus, it features this sneaky DIY trick: a bobby pin to draw on the dots! Alternatively, if you don’t have time for a more elaborate DIY, a crackle-effect nail polish will give the look of crinkled Easter foil. Simply take two minutes to paint Polished London Crackle Effects or Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat over the top of your existing colour and voila – Easter nails!

Body:

Now it’s time to give your bod the Easter treatment. A shimmery body lotion should do the trick, giving your skin just a hint of a foil-esque sheen. For a golden tan and hint of shimmer in one, try Creightons BeBronzed Instant Tan Shimmer Wash Off – a fast-acting self-tanner that applies evenly to prevent streaks. If your skin’s a little on the dry side, a moisturising tanning oil might be more up your alley: our members love the five star-rated The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil and the St. Tropez Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil for a luxurious bronze sheen.

Would you try any of these Easter-inspired beauty looks? How are you spending your Easter long weekend?
