Lancôme’s latest colour collection, Declaring Indigo, pays homage to Aaron De Mey’s icons – Olympe de Gouges, Simone de Beauvoir, Brigitte Bardot and every “magnificent irreverent” in between. That empowering, energetic nature is the key inspiration behind the collection, as De Mey proclaims:

“Only by freeing ourselves from the rules and transcending the barriers can we truly innovate. This search for freedom of vision is what drives me.”

Sorry beauties, I know it’s early and it’s a Monday but De Mey’s passion for his craft gets me every time. The collection isn’t just a collection, it’s a cosmetics revolution inspired by women who broke down barriers, who emerged triumphant, who changed the world. And I challenge anyone who wears the indigo, gold and red ensemble not to feel empowered, just that little bit taller and a whole lot more magnificent. I know I do. Here’s a quick pick of my faves…

La Palette Liberté – one of the prettiest, yet wearable, palettes of all time; this combines two indigo blues (one metallic, the other sparkling with golden flecks) with two precious golds, housed in a gold compact adorned with a rose motif that references both the flowers on the Parisian coat of arms and the Lancôme emblem.

Color Fever Gloss – Lancôme’s iconic gloss has two new shades: Pure Gold (defines the lips with a beautiful shimmer) and Aaron’s Red, a fully transparent crimson red. Simply stunning.

Le Vernis in Indigo Paris and Pure Gold – be sure to jump on the latest trend: coat nails in the bold indigo and finish with golden moons (at the top part of your nail – opposite the tip). This ‘vice-versa manicure’ is all the rage right now.

Must dash, I’m off to change the world, one beautiful step at a time…

What do you think of the gorgeous collection? What are your favourite pieces? And keep your eyes and ears peeled around the forum again this week, for there might be a surprise giveaway or two…
