WATCH: How to cover a pimple with makeup
I don’t get pimples often, but when I do it’s always the worst possible timing and I rush to hide them ASAP.
So the last time I had one, I thought I’d film a quick video to show you all how I cover a pimple quickly with make-up.
RELATED: Does eating chocolate really cause pimples?
From past experience, I’ve found that covering a fresh pimple is a lot easier than covering a popped pimple, so as hard as it can be, try to resist the urge. Once it’s popped the skin can turn dry and flaky and your make-up will settle into the area, making it even more obvious.
Watch the video above to see just how easy it is to conceal a pimple (the before and after is pretty good, if I do say so myself) or see a quick recap of the steps below.

Step #1 Primer
Pimple tip: Use a primer with a velvet or matte finish to help soak up any shine or oil in the area. It will also ensure your make-up doesn’t wear off the area as quickly and expose your blemish.
bh recommends: jane iredale Absence Oil Control Primer, Klara Cosmetics Zero Pores Primer and Bodyography Veil Foundation Primer
Step #2 Foundation
Pimple tip: Apply your foundation as normal, but make sure to use a dabbing motion over your pimple, to give it more coverage and help it absorb into the skin to stay put.

Step #3 Concealer
Pimple tip: It’s vital when covering a pimple to apply your concealer after your foundation. This way the concealer stays put to cover the blemish, rather than being moved around and blended out with your foundation. If your pimple is red, use a concealer that’s a little lighter than your foundation.

- Physicians Formula Concealer Twins Cream Concealer in Green/Light
- Sormé Perfect Touch Concealer Pen
- Bourjois Correcting Concealing Stick
Step #4 Translucent powder
Pimple tip: Using a large powder brush, gently sweep a translucent powder all over your face to set your make-up. Use a light dabbing motion on the area of the pimple to really cement the concealer in place.
bh recommends: QVS Powder Brush, Nude by Nature Mineral Finishing Veil and Natio Loose Powder

Great tips... I never seem to conceal mine correctly. My skin is not prone to breakouts but rarely when I get it they are big ones and I find it difficult to conceal.

Whenever a pimple comes up, I just use my concealer Maybelline Fit Me and it usually does the trick. It's tempting to pop it though!

I usually put a green primer over my pimple before applying foundation over it, then covering it further with a skin coloured concealer - it really helps balance out the redness that way

Matte primer is the best! I have such problem skin and it's only the past year that I'e realised just how many products it can take to cover the unsightlies... but worth it!

All this is great to cover up the pimple, but Mario Badescu treatment will clear that spot up for real in no time at all.

I thought the pimple was going to magically disappear, haha! Like a time lapse thing or something. Good demonstration on how to conceal a pimple :)

Yay! This video is fantastic! But.... don't use fingers - they warm up the skin and product - more likely to open pores and bacteria from your hand and the pimple spreading. A clean brush is much more productive. After covering it up make sure you wash your brush too! Dirty brushes are a petri dish for bacteria to grow - which then when reused would lead to more breakouts.
