WATCH: How to cover a pimple with make-up

I don’t get pimples often, but when I do it’s always the worst possible timing and I rush to hide them ASAP.

So the last time I had one, I thought I’d film a quick video to show you all how I cover a pimple quickly with make-up.

From past experience, I’ve found that covering a fresh pimple is a lot easier than covering a popped pimple, so as hard as it can be, try to resist the urge. Once it’s popped the skin can turn dry and flaky and your make-up will settle into the area, making it even more obvious.

Watch the video above to see just how easy it is to conceal a pimple (the before and after is pretty good, if I do say so myself) or see a quick recap of the steps below.

Step #1 Primer

Pimple tip: Use a primer with a velvet or matte finish to help soak up any shine or oil in the area. It will also ensure your make-up doesn’t wear off the area as quickly and expose your blemish.

Step #2 Foundation

Pimple tip: Apply your foundation as normal, but make sure to use a dabbing motion over your pimple, to give it more coverage and help it absorb into the skin to stay put.

Step #3 Concealer

Pimple tip: It’s vital when covering a pimple to apply your concealer after your foundation. This way the concealer stays put to cover the blemish, rather than being moved around and blended out with your foundation. If your pimple is red, use a concealer that’s a little lighter than your foundation.

  2. Physicians Formula Concealer Twins Cream Concealer in Green/Light
  3. Sormé Perfect Touch Concealer Pen
  4. Bourjois Correcting Concealing Stick

Step #4 Translucent powder

Pimple tip: Using a large powder brush, gently sweep a translucent powder all over your face to set your make-up. Use a light dabbing motion on the area of the pimple to really cement the concealer in place.
