The Best Hydrating Concealers For Dry Skin

Has your concealer been masking your dark circles but highlighting your dry, flaky skin at the same time? If your answer is yes, you need to enlist the help of a good moisturiser. But what you also need, is a concealer that’s been formulated specifically to hydrate and smooth over dry patches, rather than accentuate them.

We spoke with jane iredale’s National Educator, Martine Stewart, to find out how to choose a concealer that still looks flawless when your skin is a dry, flaky mess.

What do you look for in a concealer for dry skin?

The most important thing to remember is hydration, hydration, hydration. Martine recommends choosing a lightweight cream or liquid formula over a powder.

“You don’t want a concealer that is dry in its consistency as this will only make the skin and any dry areas appear worse and more textured,” she explains.

The next step is to choose the right ingredients. “Look for concealers that are filled with hydrating ingredients such as moringa seed oil, which conditions, moisturisers and soothes the skin. Plus, algae extract, which helps to prevent trans epidermal water loss,” recommends Martine.
