Out with a friend last night I couldn’t help admire her eyes. In fact, I was transfixed by them.
They’re crystal clear blue, made even brighter by the fact that the whites of her eyes are actually white (something that, as a contact lenses wearer, is forever out of my reach) and are framed by gorgeously long lashes. Jealous much?
Anyway, she’d done nothing overly complicated with her make-up, just an easy sweep of charcoal liner, softly blended into a pearly peach shadow (which I later learned was MAC Eye Shadow in All That Glitters) and a slick of mascara – simple yet sooo effective.
It got me thinking that while most of us struggle to create complicated eye looks, it’s actually not that hard to make your peepers pop – you just have to know which shades will accentuate the colour of your eyes.
If your eyes are blue: Warm shades of peach, brown, taupe and gold work well for you. Try: Australis Cosmetics Duo Eyeshadow in Enchanted Forest, or Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in Peach Sorbet.
If your eyes are brown: Opt for rich plums, soft pinks or copper-toned shadows to bring out any flecks of colour in your eyes. Try: Bobbi Brown Metallic Eye Shadow in Velvet Plum, or Prestige Cosmetics Let Loose Eyeshadow Dust in Bounce.
If your eyes are green: Beautiful browns and varying hues of violet will set off your eyes best. Try: Max Factor Earth Spirits Eye Shadow Pots in Walnut, or Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Quad in Plum Seduction.
What colour are your peepers and what shades do you wear to make them pop?
