Five steps to flirty lashes and bold lips
Fluttery lashes and bold lips are a) classic, b) striking and c) wonderfully festive. Oh, and they’re also an outrageously easy make-up combination to create, making them perfect for the party season, which, whether you’re happy to admit it or not, is upon us. Right. Now.
Never delved into the world of false lashes and bold lips before? No biggie – these five simple steps will have you looking like you sport the look on a daily basis (and maybe even as stunning as singer Ricki-Lee Coulter)…
STEP ONE: ace your base
Ricki-Lee is working some glorious luminous skin in this photo, so give your skin a glowy boost by choosing a sheer, radiant foundation. Start by applying the product across your t-zone and blend outwards – by doing so you’ll avoid that dreaded orange strip along your jaw line. We love: COVERGIRL Advanced Radiance Liquid Makeup.
STEP TWO: reach for a taupe eye shadow
A classic colour that does wonderful things for the eyes, taupe suits all skin tones and gives the eye socket definition without leaving you looking like you’re wearing loads of eye shadow. Tip: concentrate a little more colour along the upper lash line and you’ll help boost lash thickness, too. We love: Bloom Eye Shadow in Taupe.
STEP THREE: attach some nifty individual false lashes
Individual lashes are the key part to this beauty look. They are the reason why your eyelashes will look fantastically fluttery, but in a completely natural way. We love Eylure Individual Lashes because you can concentrate the lashes where you need them most, and even apply them to the outer third of each eye for an intriguing yet subtle look. (Never used them before? bh’s Deb has a brilliant video tutorial to show you how.) Plus, these babies last on your lashes for up to four weeks, which means you won’t have to go through the application process all over again every time you want luscious lashes!
STEP FOUR: colour your apples
But don’t go overboard – this look is all about the bright, flirty eyes and bold colourful lips – so too much blush or bronzer will make you look a little dirty or (gasp!) even clown-esque. Reach for a peachy bronze or pink cream blush depending on your chosen lip colour for a luminous finish. Want more glow? Follow up with a dusting of illuminating powder. We love: glo minerals Cream Blush.
STEP FIVE: make your pout pop
Love Ricki-Lee’s matchy-matchy red frock and red lip combo? Me too. You can follow suit and match your lipstick to whatever bright pink, peach, watermelon, or red outfit you’re wearing, too, or contrast your chosen bold lip colour with a more demure outfit. Whatever your hue of choice, make sure you apply foundation over your lips before applying the lipstick from the bullet to make your pout pop even more. We love: COVERGIRL Lip Perfection Lipstick in Hot (bright red) and Spellbound (hot pink).
