Male beauty is now on the rise

Male beauty looks used to be minimal, but it appears they’re becoming more elaborate than our own! Priceline Pharmacy recently reported that more Aussie men are purchasing not only skincare but also makeup products. Speaking to news.com.au, the retailer’s Senior Skincare Buyer Tania Yates-Hammond said there’d been an increase in guys shopping for facial scrubs, moisturisers and most surprisingly, “concealer or bronzer for those big dates”.

“Men too suffer from blemishes, age spots and under-eye dark circles and it is now clearer to them that a good grooming regime can help them treat their skincare issues,” she said. Good grooming is one thing, but some blokes are taking it a step further, experimenting with nail art.

Yep, you heard right. UK nail salon WAH Nails revealed this one, Instagramming a picture of a male customer rocking a mono manicure with the caption: “We’re seeing more boyz in the salon coming in for nail art and we love it!”.

The post attracted a range of comments, ranging from the supportive to the less approving: “Some things should be kept for women.” Whether or not nail art will catch on with Aussie guys is yet to be seen, but if anyone’s to convince the boys it’s cool to be pretty, it’s One Direction’s Harry Styles. The tousled-haired 20-year-old stepped out in a colourful headscarf at a restaurant in London last week not to mention some silver jewellery and ankle boots we’d wear ourselves…

Watch out ladies, it looks like your male counterparts will be taking over space in the bathroom cabinets soon!
