Get to know great dupes

Makeup can be really expensive, but there are a few brands that have created very similar products to the ones used by celebrities and makeup artists for a fraction of the price! When you’re shopping for new makeup it’s always a good idea to do some research online, which could end up saving you lots.

Buy your foundation in your summer shade

The shade of your skin tone changes throughout the year depending on the season, so lots of people choose to buy two different shades of foundation. Instead, you can just purchase your summer shade of foundation and mix a small amount of moisturiser with it to lighten it. Not only does this allow you to adjust the foundation to your winter shade, but it will give you an extra boost of hydration when your skin needs it the most due to the cooler climate.

Make smart splurges

Sometimes a more expensive product will catch your eye and you’ll be tempted to splurge. And that’s perfectly fine! But before you do, make sure you’re getting more bang for your buck by splurging on products that you can multitask with. The Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow ($97, charlottetilbury.com) is a great example. It’s a contour palette, so you can use both shades to bronze and highlight your complexion – but neutral shades like this also work really well as eyeshadow shades too.

Take advantage of loyalty programs

M.A.C have their Back To M.A.C loyalty program where you can return 6 empty M.A.C containers to any M.A.C store and receive a free lipstick or eyeshadow refill of your choice. And of course, being a member of beautyheaven gets you free beauty products just for writing reviews and letting other beauty lovers know what you think!
