How to get Beyoncé’s Vogue Cover Highlight

“Beyoncé loves a ‘no-makeup’ makeup look,” says Sir John on creating the cover look. “She’s all about being confident in your skin and owning your natural element. This look was all about redefining glamorous as a state of mind. We focused on enhancing her natural brows, skin, and structure — and bringing out that inner glow.”

He starts with the foundation application and says it’s really important to, “always apply foundation on wet, moisturized skin—it’s the best way to lock in your glow.” Doing this will really set the tone for a dewy, glowy base!

Using a range of Marc Jacobs products to create the dewy finish, Sir John says he prepped Beyoncé’s skin with the Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer, as this is a really hydrating product – perfect for getting your glow on!

Once the face was prepped, he says he used a two-step technique to get that “bronzey, rose-gold finish.” Step one was to grab the Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Dew Drops in Fantasy and place that on the “basic highpoints”, which include the cheekbones, nose, cupid bow, and forehead. “Always avoid shimmer on the front of the face. Apply it to your angles for sexiness,” says Sir John.

Once he had applied the highlighter to the high points, he took the same highlighter and mixed it with a foundation that was slightly darker than Bey’s face. “It’s all about a glowy contour. Dew Drops are worth their weight in gold. It’s the one thing I have in my bag everywhere — I use it for concerts, for shoots, for tours — I use it religiously,” Sir John says.
