Describe your blog in three words.
Dramatic, bold and bright.
What types of things inspire you when writing your blog?
Oh my, I don’t know where to start, magazines, fashion, and new collections and of course the internet. Some days I’ll just stare at my collection and get an idea for a tutorial.
How far ahead do you work on your blog?
It’s hard to say, I have a list of different ideas I want to cover on a cork board in my make-up/computer room, I also have some drafts in my windows live writer program that I can choose to finish when inspiration hits. Some posts I’ll write ahead and date so they will automatically upload on a certain date/time. Reviews are the most thought out, I like to trial the products for quite some time before I post about them so I’ll keep notes of thoughts on the products whilst trialling.
Do you have a particular subject area that you enjoy covering?
For me it’s always going to be about make-up and hair. I find skin care to be rather subjective, everyone reacts differently. Of course this also applies to make-up and hair products but you can be a lot more creative with them. Which is the main reason I'm drawn to the beauty industry in the first place.
What are the best things about having your own blog?
Having my own blog can be extremely rewarding, being able to interact with people you would normally never get to meet, being told you’ve helped someone. It’s a great feeling!
What are the worst things?
SEO, argh, definitely something I’m trying my hardest to wrap my mind around. Although it’s been nearly 2.5 years since I started Madame B Fatale, if no one read my blog I would still be doing it. But in saying that I do want it to grow so these are things I have to be conscious of.
