Rae Morris, Makeup Artist and Make up Masterclass author, suggests extending the areas where you apply foundation. “You shouldn’t feel weird about applying foundation down to your neck and chest area, it’s a common misconception that makeup should stop at the jawline,” says Rae.

She recommends using a mineral foundation as it “can be buffed into the skin to rid it of any redness.”

Despite what you might think, Rae says that blush is still an option, but “you need to ensure that you have a well-concealed base with all the redness covered.” The best guideline for applying blush is “not to go to rosy, steer clear of really pink blushes and keep it light, only touching the apples of the cheeks with a coral or soft pink for a natural look,” says Rae.

Makeup Artist, Nicola Burford, again says that “you are absolutely right to be blending your foundation onto the chest. As a makeup artist, I do it on nearly everyone as the skin is often different to the face or needs some kind of corrective work in the décolletage area.”

She suggests using “a body foundation with a warm pink or peach undertone so it blends in with your natural colour. Don’t try to mask with a colour-correcting foundation (ie. one with yellow or golden undertones) as this will look too heavy.”
