How to cover blushing and facial redness

Feeling a little flushed? Couperose skin and blushing are common beauty dilemmas that can be difficult to hide, especially if the redness goes right down to your chest. Using makeup for blushing skin is a great way to camouflage a pink complexion, but without the right techniques you can end up looking blotchy. We asked two makeup experts to reveal their best tricks to hide blushing.
Forget embarrassing blushing and facial redness, our experts have got you covered.

Rae Morris, Makeup Artist and Make up Masterclass author, suggests extending the areas where you apply foundation. “You shouldn’t feel weird about applying foundation down to your neck and chest area, it’s a common misconception that makeup should stop at the jawline,” says Rae.
She recommends using a mineral foundation as it “can be buffed into the skin to rid it of any redness.”

Despite what you might think, Rae says that blush is still an option, but “you need to ensure that you have a well-concealed base with all the redness covered.” The best guideline for applying blush is “not to go to rosy, steer clear of really pink blushes and keep it light, only touching the apples of the cheeks with a coral or soft pink for a natural look,” says Rae.

Makeup Artist, Nicola Burford, again says that “you are absolutely right to be blending your foundation onto the chest. As a makeup artist, I do it on nearly everyone as the skin is often different to the face or needs some kind of corrective work in the décolletage area.”
She suggests using “a body foundation with a warm pink or peach undertone so it blends in with your natural colour. Don’t try to mask with a colour-correcting foundation (ie. one with yellow or golden undertones) as this will look too heavy.”

I think blushing is cute. Red or pink skin, not so much. Luckily I don't suffer from this problem!

Redness is an issue for me and I have found mineral foundations to be brilliant.
I avoided blush for years but now if I get the base right, I have realised I look so much better with some colour on my face.

I'd blush a lot when I was stressed or embarrassed when I was younger - older harder me now is pretty cool as a cucumber :-P
Nowadays I'd get redness when drinking, but due to health issues, I don't drink as much anymore. So I'm pretty good. I get sunburnt easily - so that's the only thing I'd probably have to worry about now! haha

Mineral makeup is brilliant - Physicians Formula have a correcting mineral primer which can be used alone or under makeup. Green concealer is also good for if you get really red.

For a short time I was getting some redness around my sides of my nose area but it seems to have gone away now. I was just putting up with it really and if I wanted to look nice I'd just concentrate a bit more foundation there whereas usually I skimp a bit on the foundation in that area.

It's not my cheeks that blush but my nose. While everything else stays nice and pale just to highlight the Rudolph effect. Hoping that becomes a trend soon....

My face flare's up & goes red if I'm using a product that irritates my skin but I don't cover it up with makeup or foundation I let it be until it settle's this is a dumb idea, If you have sensitive skin like me or you have a medical problem that causes this or you have a reaction to some sort of thing to do this get it checked out/or leave it but don't do this you'll just make it worse for yourself. When my face isn't red & it just normal I wear foundation & makeup I used to wear blush on my rosy cheeks who hasn't did this? But as for the natural blushing well that's different story that has only ever happen to me a few times not everyone can do this & yet it happens soo naturally for me.

I used to blush SO easily! Even if I didn't feel embarrassed ! I think I'm past that nowadays. I never use foundation on my décolletage though... & I love Nars blushes on my fair skin!

Let me get this straight. If I blush ( can not naturally, just a hypothesis) , I need to cover it. So I apply all that foundation, and then I am told not to look 'flat' I need to apply blush (bronzer and what not)? Ok then (¬_¬)

I can be prone in extremes of weather and when drinking wine - just put a little more makeup on and seems to take care of it :)
