Make-up tips for when you don’t feel like make-uping

Being sick is the absolute worst, and as much as we’d rather crawl into bed and forget real life for a day, the show must go on. And while putting on make-up seems like a superhuman effort, it might just be the thing that gives you the boost you need to keep calm, carry on and look a thousand times better than you feel.

Try these three hacks for when you’re unwell but still need to get on with your day.

*Facepalm.

Skip black liner

Counteract those tired, red eyes by using a nude or white eyeliner pencil on the inner rim of your lower lash line. While you’re at it, use the liner to highlight your brow bones and make your brows look sharper and more polished. You can also use it on your cupid’s bow to create definition – just apply a small ‘v’ at the top of your upper lip, and blend. Oh, and don’t just pull out the nude eyeliner when you’ve caught the office flu – it’s a brilliant beauty trick on any day you wake up feeling tired.

Apply a luminous primer

A dewy complexion hides traces of the dull, lifeless-looking skin that comes with being under the weather. Prep your skin with an illuminating primer, which will reflect light for an I’m-not-ill-I’m-feeling-fabulous glow. Then, avoid matte make-up as it will exacerbate your pale, lacklustre skin. Don’t worry, it’s just for a little while!

Use blotting sheets

Going for the dewy look is one thing, but if you’re on the shiny side thanks to a fever, then faking a glow is probably the furthest thing from your mind. Soak up any excess oil in the t-zone with a blotting sheet and you’ll be halfway to normal again!
