As the sun’s going down and the mood’s running high; the guys are dressed in tailored suits and the ladies, sipping fruity cocktails, are standing tall in high heels. The whole scene is an elegant stream of events as laughter increases and smiles spread around the room, hints of cologne and perfume scent the air, good conservation flows, and music in the form of a live jazz band (none of that head banging club beats) mix together to create what is known as Cocktail Hour.

But what captures every beauty-lovers heart the most is the make-up looks and trends that turn those shy girls in the office or those normally bare faced beauties into alluring, sophisticated woman of class.

So what are these sultry looks that every girl will want to try?

Two classic looks are the red lip and the smoky eye. First of course, red lippie is a classic statement look and when worn with a sexy LBD it will turn heads and have guys lining up to buy you drinks. Remember though, to pick the right shade of lipstick to complement your skin tone

The smoky eye teamed with winged eye liner is a great way to give depth to your eyes and can also help make your eyes look bigger so they really pop! This look can be a bit tricky at times but thankfully SAX has a Sultry Eye kit to walk you through each step of the way.

Hints and tricks on how to get the most out of your cocktail hour makeup:
-go for lasting makeup. You don’t want to be leaving lipstick marks on every glass (or guy) you run into, try Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick as it will not budge once applied. Also a finishing powder will help set your makeup look and soak up any excess oils, Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder is a translucent powder that will help with this.
-don’t be afraid to accessories (just don’t go over board), a few statement rings, nail polish (I’m loving the crackle nail polish effect to really give another dimension to your nails), even chandelier earrings and false lashes are acceptable come Cocktail hour. Try Ardell Fashion Lashes Starter Kit.

And of course, go easy on the number of cocktails consumed as there is nothing worse than a lady of high class stumbling around harassing the coat check boy.
