Supplements reviews: Do they really work?

If you’re like me, you’ve been trawling through supplements reviews for years, hoping to find one that really works. After all, they often promise the world – thicker hair, clearer skin, longer nails, the ability to purchase a home in Sydney. Okay maybe not the last one, but they do make some big claims. So how do you know whether they’re actually legit?

To help you distinguish which supplements work and which don’t, we’ve decided to put a few to the test. bh’s Laura wanted to get thicker, stronger locks so she chose a hair supplement. For me, I chose a more-skin focused supplement to see if I could get that glow going. So if you’ve been considering adding supplements to your beauty regime, read our honest supplements reviews below.

bh’s Laura: Viviscal Maximum Hair Growth Supplements for Women

“As I am unlucky enough to have fine hair, I am constantly using all manner of serums, masks and potions to create thick, voluminous locks. I was excited to try out the Viviscal Maximum Hair Growth Supplements for Women as I’ve never tried something like this before.

This product comes in packs of 60 tablets which lasts about a month. I was directed to take one tablet twice a day with a meal, so I was dedicated to taking these after my breakfast and dinner. I will admit that I did find it hard some days to remember to take the tablets, especially on the weekends when I had less of a schedule. I did like that unlike topical treatments it’s really easy and not a complicated routine.

As the tablets work gradually it can be hard to notice a difference but after taking them for three months, I could definitely tell that my hair was stronger and I noticed less hairs in my brush and in the shower. I also noticed that my nails even felt stronger! This product definitely works but you do need patience to see results. “

bh’s Kate: Beauty Boosters Glow Getter

“I love the idea of supplements but I’m also a major sceptic – especially when it comes to skin health. So I decided to give them a go to see if I could honestly see a difference. I chose to try the Beauty Boosters Glow Getter supplements as my skin was looking a little dull and drab thanks to the perils of winter.

Glow Getter is supposed to optimise skin health from the inside out, as well as to help promote healthy growth of hair and nails. The tablets contain a high amount of minerals and nutrients such as Riboflavin and and zinc, which supports the skin renewal process – yes please!

I’d heard good things about Glow Getter from fellow beauty editors, so I was excited to give the supplements a go. The instructions said to take one supplement per day with meals, so I’d throw one back in the morning with my breakfast smoothie. I was really dedicated to it and set an alarm on my phone to make sure I never missed a supplement.

After about a month of daily use, I started notice my skin looking suspiciously brighter. Certain areas of my skin that are prone to looking dull and a bit blah were much less obvious and my skin just looked… better! I started getting loads of compliments and people were asking what foundation I was wearing as my skin looked so damn glowy. I was so happy to let them know about Glow Getter and I will continue to sing its praises. Consider me a convert!”
