The 3 techniques that keep Shelley Craft looking so fit

With nine seasons of co-hosting The Block under her belt, it seems like mum-of-two Shelley Craft is only getting younger with each year that passes.

But with Benjamin Button-like tendencies ruled out, Shelley recently revealed to New Idea what really keeps her ‘Block fit’. In between “those sleepless nights” filming in Melbourne and back home in Byron Bay, where she recently completed a renovation on her family’s beautiful 1950s beach shack, the 44-year-old credits her enviable health to three very important lifestyle factors:

Meditation 

While frequent travel for work can be a huge disruption to anyone’s routine, Shelley admits she uses those plane trips between Melbourne and Byron as her time to relax and unwind, “I find those two hours are my downtime. I take it as my real meditation moments,” she said.

Intermittent Fasting

When it comes to her diet, Shelley reveals she’s found positive results with intermittent fasting where she eats between the time frame of midday to 6pm, “I find this gets my digestion working well – it never feels like I’m fasting”.

Surfing

When she’s not surrounded by tradies, cameras and building sites, you’ll find Shelley on the beach having a surf with her family.

  1. I’m surprised she surfs! I wouldn’t have picked that. It may just be her on-camera personality, but she seems so positive and happy all the time and that’s gotta make a difference when it comes to her approach to taking care of herself. I’ve wanted to make meditation part of my daily routine for so many years now, I just feel guilty for not getting things done or feel like I won’t be able to relax with so much on my mind. She’s lucky in that respect that she gets that regular guaranteed time when she’s flying!

  2. Do not have tv, so do not know her. She looks gorg! Well , having 2 kids, 2 dogs…she has so much work to do! Plus all those seasons shooting things…she definitely needs meditation =D
    I am simple: whole plant foods, relaxing a lot, sleeping at least 8-9 hours and just being raw

  3. Shelley Craft must have boundless energy, I tend to eat breakfast and have a Bigger Lunch Meal and have a light snack about 3 pm in the afternoon don’t eat anything until breakfast time.
    Seems to work for me.

  4. There is so much talk about this way of eating but everyone needs to remember that ‘one size does not fit all’ …. There are many medical conditions that this form of eating would not work for. I think we all need to find our own balance and do what we do rather then worrying about what everyone else does.

  5. I tried intermittent fasting and lost 1.5 kgs in six weeks. My husband tried for two weeks and lost 4kgs. I gave up 🙁 A small loss is better than no loss, so I really should give it another go.
