“Lovely was not inspired by one thing, rather the loveliness that can be found all around us – if only we take the time to look” – Sarah Jessica Parker”¨”¨

Lovely really is the perfect name for Sarah Jessica Parker’s first fragrance, which launched back in 2005. In the wake of aggressively girlie fruity-florals that many celebrities are putting their name to; Lovely offers something else. It’s quieter, more subdued but there is something undeniably sensual about it. It has a quiet confidence in it’s own beauty, Lovely certainly will not scream out to those around you.”¨”¨

Upon first spray Lovely smells more woody and herbal than you might guess looking at the beautiful pink packaging it comes in. The top notes include Mandarin, Lavender and Apple Martini accord which create a fresh, slightly spicy scent. There is very little sweetness in the top layer. ӬӬ

However, it doesn’t take long for the citrus notes to fade and for the woods to really show through. Cedar and Patchouli offer a light warmth to Lovely, while Amber and Musk in the base notes create a ‘powdery’ scent which I find to be very comforting.

”¨”¨Lovely is beautiful and easy to wear, while it’s not an overly complex or striking scent it’s perfect for daytime or quiet nights spent cuddling on the couch. It stays fairly close to the skin and the musky notes cling for a few hours. I don’t find it’s a perfume that other will comment on but it’s one that makes me feel warm, safe and happy. I also think that Lovely has a timeless quality about it, there is a slightly old word gracefulness about it yet Lovely doesn’t smell dated – it is a fragrance that will surpass trends.”¨”¨

Lovely is available pretty much anywhere that you can buy perfume, I purchased my bottle at Priceline for less than $40AUD. ӬӬ

Sarah Jessica Parker developed ‘Lovely’ with two accomplished perfumers: Clement Gavarry and Laurent Le Guernec. Clement Gavarry is credited to creation of such fragrances as Prada Prada EDP, Carolina Herrera for Her and Tom Ford Private Blend Black Violet. Laurent Le Guernec who developed Michael Kors Michael for women (another one of my favourite perfumes) and Marc Jacobs Splash in Rain.”¨
