BlogStar entry: love balm, baby, love balm!

Competition: beautyheaven’s BlogStar promotion

My first multi-purpose beauty love began many moons ago with Lucas’ Paw Paw ointment. Not many things make my essential collection and last the test of time but being inexpensive, versatile and efficient it quickly became the ultimate handbag and bedside staple. Jurlique’s Love Balm is fast becoming my next new love. It’s checking all the boxes in just the right ways…..

A balm with a consistency of a salve like solid perfume housed in a handy portable tin with easy screw-top lid it’s perfect to carry around wherever you go. Love balm is a lemon colour that when applied leaves a silky smooth feeling with a barely there translucent shine which absorbs readily after application. Scented with an uplifting light aroma of tangerine just breathing in its scent gives an uplifting boost to the senses. It perfectly moisturises, conditions and protects skin wherever it’s applied as well as softening dry and soothing chapped skin from head to toe.

Used on chapped areas around the nose when suffering from a cold or flu, or on areas exposed to drying elements it again soothes and protects the skin, a great environmental weather protector all year round. Perfect to apply to lips, elbows, knees, any skin needing some moisture! Leaves lips feeling so moisturised that I want to lick or smack them together just to be reminded how soft they’ve become. Gently rubbing it into cuticles leaves them feeling softer and hydrated it’s the perfect instant moisture and antioxidant perk-me up. My favourite tip is using a little dab smoothed between my palms to help smooth flyaway strands of hair, seal the ends of my hair and tame unruly eyebrows. Just a small amount rubbed or patted onto the affected area produces instant results, and at $15 for 15mL it’s a good price for a natural multi-purpose product that’s free from the usual nasties like Parabens, PEGs, artificial colours, artificial fragrances, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES).

Just looking at the combination of natural ingredients it’s easy to see why Love Balm is such a winner, According to Jurlique Love Balm “contains a potent anti-microbial agent called Totarol, a natural plant extract drawn sustainably from recycled fence posts constructed decades ago out of the New Zealand Totara tree. The extract possesses unique broad-spectrum, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activity because Totarol is non-irritating to human skin. A soothing combination of chamomile, calendula, marshmallow, rosa gallica, daisy, echinacea, sweet violet and pansy, Jurlique’s Biodynamic Blend is mixed into a creamy, moisturizing base of natural oils including bisabolol, soybean, mango nut seed, jojoba, shea butter, sunflower seed and avocado. Beeswax, licorice root and tangerine oil lend Love Balm its exceptional texture and sweet natural flavour.” Keeping with Jurlique’s ethos the tin is recyclable and printed using non-toxic renewable vegetable based ink. To keep my skin feeling smoother than a baby’s bottom Love Balm is now a permanent addition to my collection right next to my pawpaw ointment!
