BlogStar entry: CHAN(n)EL-ling Lily

Competition: beautyheaven’s BlogStar promotion

Celebrity trends change like the weather. One week its yoga, then who’s got the biggest bling, before you know it detox-diets and my botox looks more natural than yours. Celebrity endorsement, being the face and ambassador of products is taking the beauty and fashion world by storm and surprisingly Chanel’s choice of celeb endorser is…Voila, Lily Allen. Truly a unique choice for Chanel’s recent handbag campaign, being Karl Lagerfeld’s muse seems to have worked its charms on both Lily and Chanel. Apart from Karl’s wonderful photography and production on the shoot, Lily looked flawlessly gorgeous CHAN(n)EL-ling an Audrey Hepburn look created with iconic Chanel makeup. I don’t have Lily’s bankroll of cash and I’m not “packing plastic” proudly claiming that I’ve “got a whole Chanel section in my wardrobe” like Lily, but I can channel Lily’s Chanel makeup look, giving me luxe Chanel and Hepburn-esque looks for less.

To create a flawless base a light application of the new Australis Mineral Inject Liquid Foundation in nude ($17.95) over the face gives that classic faultless complexion. This new formula contains various minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and peptides injecting some goodness into the makeup and onto your face. Eyes need a sweep of nearly nude natural colour across the browbone and lids or optional very light sweep of gold or bronze across lids, Covergirl 4Kit Eye Enhancers in Sheerly Nudes ($13.95) contains all the colours you need to pull this elegant look off. If you prefer a less Hepburn and more rockin’ Lily look swap Sheerly Nudes for their Drama Eyes with silver and charcoal and get a little more heavy with application. Rimmel London Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner in black ($13.95) applied slightly thicker along the top lashline will create a more intense line. Begin lining at the outer corner and following through very thin on under eye lashline will add definition to the eyes. Now a couple coats of Maybelline NY Lash Stiletto Mascara in black ($18.95) will create perfectly flutter-licious thick, full, sweeping lashes that Lily and Audrey pull off so well.

Super styled brows are important and RedEarth Absolute Brows in brunette ($29.00) make perfect brows easy. A compact with mirror, tweezers, two smudge-resistant complementing brow colours and setting pomade it will tidy and tame wild brows or create styled brows out of thin ones, using this wet will add extra brow kapow! Only one step away from CHAN(n)EL-ling Lily (or should that be Audrey), as perfectly full, pouty dressed lips seal the deal. Here The New Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lip gloss in Burlesque ($11.95) is a winner especially with its lychee fragrance or if you prefer lippie then opt for Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in CanCan or ChaCha ($12.95). Carefully balancing a bold lip with full balanced brows is a simple art to master when using the right products, all your friends will think you’ve bought out the Chanel makeup counter when secretly your rockin’ an elegant Lily look for less!
