BlogStar entry: beauty inheritance

BlogStar entry: beauty inheritance

Competition: beautyheaven’s BlogStar promotion

There is one aspect of my life in which Mummy Dearest did not live up to her Mum of the Year title. She failed to be a superficial glamour-puss, who cared about eyebrow shape, leg hair removal and acne treatment (and concealment) – the things that concerned me the most as a teenager. (Don’t think me a terrible daughter. Her complete awesomeness pretty much voids this one gripe.)

At about the age of thirteen, the year that signifies the onset of the rampant self-consciousness and low self-esteem of adolescence, I confided in my mum, that I would like a pair of skinny sharp eyebrows, due to fearing ridicule for my self perceived mono-brow that would give Agro a run for his money. Her response ‘Your eyebrows are fine, you’re beautiful. Whatever you do, don’t go and pluck them, or they’ll be almost nonexistent like mine.’

What did I do? I nicked Mum’s tweezers and went to work grooming those surprised little caterpillars that live above my eyes. At twenty five I am now growing out said caterpillars, with the help of Benefit Brows A-Go-Go and Speed Brow.

To get to the point, I have vowed to myself that when my own future teenage daughter comes to me to complain that her hover board needs repairing and that’s she’s worried she looks like Bert from Sesame Street, I’ll know to whip her straight over to a reputable beautician/salon to get the perfect, natural, face-suiting eyebrows her fragile self-doubting little face needs.

So let all women of the Earth take heed. Don’t dismiss your daughter’s (or maybe even son’s) seemingly shallow qualms, and tell her she’s already perfect. Give her the solution she needs. Don’t have the right solution? Then both of you can pop into Beauty Heaven and do a bit of research together.

Also, tell her to keep away from that Bradley kid, I hear he’s bad news.

*And yes I borrowed that clever term from Renata’s blog ‘This glossy gal gives lipstick a go…’
