SPOTTED: This nail trend at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2018

You never know what trends you’re going to find backstage at fashion week. Especially when it comes to nail trends. Walking into Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2018 I didn’t know if I would be getting a sea of models with naked manicures, or full-blown cat claws. And don’t get me wrong, there were lots of bare nails this year, but backstage at Karla Spetic I spied something a bit different…

Models had their digits painted with one of two Smith & Cult nail polishes with a pearlescent finish – and I’m now obsessed with pearlescent nails! Smith & Cult’s Mikele Simone told BEAUTYDIRECTORY that the overall look was meant to give the girls “a translucent feel throughout, like they were being like from within, a bit like a stain glass window.”

The colours backstage were Smith & Cult nail polish in Sugarette (left) an opaque white smoke and Smith & Cult nail polish in 1972 (right) an opaque rose gold foil.

Other pearlescent nail polishes we love: OPI nail polish in Kyoto Pearl, Mavala Switzerland Arabesque Color Collection nail polish in Metallic Grey, SinfulColors Pearl nail polish in Tokyo Pearl

What do you think of this trend? Would you wear pearlescent nail polish?
