The best mani-pedi colour combos
There are two kinds of women in this world – those who get a matching mani-pedi and those who don’t.
While matching your hand nail colour to the hue on your toes has its merits (one of them being that you spend 15 minutes less at the shade stand because you don’t have to pick a second colour), there’s just something special about sporting two different colours on your top and bottom digits.
Trouble is, which shades do you choose? Trying to co-ordinate the colour on your hands and on your toes can be confusing, which is why we called on the experts – Alison Bowhill-Hayes, Sally Hansen’s nail expert and Cherie Pollard, CND’s expert – to shed some light on the situation.
“Manicures and pedicures don't have to match with exactly the same shades. What looks good on the hands might not suit the toes (or the shoes for that matter), so why not completely mix it up?” says Alison.
MANI-PEDI COMBO #1: NUDE + RED
Both Alison and Cherie agree that the nude on your nails and red on your toes work brilliantly together to create a look that’s beautifully contrasted and sophisticated.

MANI-PEDI COMBO #2: PASTEL + POP
Alison recommends sporting a pastel (or light shade of) mauve, pink or coral on your hands and a bright (or darker shade of) purple, fuchsia or orange on your toes. But Cherie advises to stick to the tonal groups when you do this, as this will make your overall look appear more cohesive.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in I Pink I Can and Back to the Fuchsia.
MANI-PEDI COMBO #3: OPPOSITES ATTRACT
Complementary colours (the ones that sit opposite each other on the colour wheel) can be worn together to create a striking and beautiful effect. Even if you’re wearing opposite colours, Cherie still suggests having some consistency, “If you like a crème colour, use for both fingers and toes. Alternatively, if you like a frost finish, use that for both.”

MANI-PEDI COMBO #4: A TOUCH OF BLACK
Alison’s hot tip for the autumn/winter season? Neutral nails mixed with a touch of black. She recommends, “A black pedicure and nude manicure with thin black tips or French looks fab.”
