Green and gold nails
You’ll need:
- A makeup sponge
- Mani tape or sticky tape to protect around your nails from polish
- Green nail polish
- Yellow nail polish
- A quick-drying top coat
bh loves: Mitty Flawless Finish Peel Off Mani Tape ($10, mitty.com.au), Rokk96 nail polish in Bananas!, COVERGIRL XL Nail Gel in Plump It Pear, OPI RapiDry Top Coat
Step one:
Paint your nails yellow. Don’t worry about getting a perfect even shade. One layer is enough.
Step two:
Put some mani tape or sticky tape around your nails. To get the perfect finish, it’s best to protect around your nails from the polish.
Step three:
Clean your makeup sponge with sticky tape to remove the little hair and dust particles. Add a layer of each colour on the sponge.
Step four:
Gently tap the sponge on your nail.
Tip: make sure the polish is wet on the sponge otherwise you will be left with little pieces of sponge on your nails. If the polish is drying, just simply add more.
Wait until each layer has dried before applying the next layer.
Step five:
Add a layer of your quick-drying top coat. This is a must otherwise you will not have a perfect even and smooth finish.
Step six:
Remove your mani tape or sticky tape.
Dotted Australia Day nails
You’ll need:
- A dotting tool
- Two different shades of blue nail polish
- Dark blue nail polish
- White nail polish
- A piece of baking paper
bh loves: ulta3 Nail Polish in Blue Marlin, Revlon Classic Nail Enamel in Dreamer, Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in Babe Blue, SinfulColors Cream nail polish in Snow Me White
Step one:
Paint your nails a dark shade of blue.
Step two:
Put a few drops of the polish on the baking paper. Either use the brush that comes with the bottle to do this, or simply pour the polish out really carefully. Then dip the tip of your dotting tool into the polish, making sure you have enough on the tip.
Step three:
Gently place the tip of your dotting tool on the corner of your nails and continue adding dots to create an arch.
Step four:
Now keep adding dots using different colours to create the arches and circles that you want.
Step five:
Add a layer of your quick-drying top coat. This is a must otherwise you will not have a perfect even and smooth finish.

Not a fan of these nail designs. My birthday is on Australia Day, so good to always have a day off to celebrate.

I love the way it says, "easy!!!!" Depends on who is applying it because easy for me it isn't!! I do admire anyone who can do wonderful nail art.

I like the ombre look, but not in those colours. The mani tape looks handy though!

I like the blue spot one, but I wouldn't have called it especially Aussie in design. I'll be doing dark blue with white stars.

These nail polish don't look particularly pretty. Perhaps the neon colour one may look nice on someone with darker skin tone.
