Mum’s the word: hands that do dishes…

Hands that do dishes and are constantly delving into wet wipes and washing out sick-stained bibs and baby grows end up dry and rough. I’m talking from experience…

My hands have become so dry that I’ve had to purposely place a tub/tube/pot of hand cream in every room in the house so that it prompts me to apply – regularly. The extreme soreness and chapping of my knuckles has even led me to less orthodox solutions such as slathering the backs of my hands with lip balm (this is what happens when you get caught short without a hand cream in your bag). It did a pretty good job I might add, albeit a little slippery!

So it got me thinking about some of the other products – that aren’t actually hand creams – that I’ve used to rehydrate and soothe my poor sore hands. Here are a couple that I’ve found to be great multi-taskers (even if they’re not meant to be!):

Ultraceuticals Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 30+
In dire need of quick comfort for chapped hands, I’ve been known to extend this product’s two-in-one claim (sun protection and face hydration) to include hand nourishment too. It works a treat and helps keep my hands protected from the ageing effects of the sun. Oh and it’s not too shabby when used on your face either!

Blistex Ultra Lip Balm
When your knuckles are so sore you can barely bend them, and the only remotely soothing saviour you have to hand (excuse the pun) is lip balm, I challenge you to not to be covering your chapped hands in lip balm faster than you can say Blistex!

What product keep your multi-tasking mitts in tip top condition?

When have you used a product for something other than what it’s intended?
