How-to: protect hands in summer
Ahh summer…is there anything better? The sun is always shining, your vampire-like winter skin is replaced with a glowing tan and men suddenly start appearing shirtless a lot more often. Need we say more?
There’s just one problem: your hands. When cold weather makes way for heatwaves, something rather unpleasant happens to our hands – they start to shrivel up like prunes! And nothing ruins the look of your cute new bikini more than an unsightly set of sultana hands. So here’s how to enjoy the summer without having to hide away your hands…
Don’t neglect the sunscreen
We’re quick to slather on the sunscreen when it comes to protecting our face and bodies, but the hands are often neglected. Unprotected hands exposed to the sun’s UV rays can suffer, so don’t neglect to give them a good old slather with the sun cream.
During the day, your hands lose a lot of moisture due to sun exposure, so it’s important to replace it with a good hand care cream. Look for hand lotion containing vitamin E, which will repair and nourish the delicate damaged skin on your hands.
Diet for your digits
To prevent dry hands and brittle nails during the hotter months, try including more vitamin B, zinc and calcium in your diet. You can get plenty of these nourishing nutrients by eating eggs, dried fruit, oysters, red meat and even dark chocolate! That’s as good an excuse as any to stock up on the choccie, we say!
