Everyone loves waves and I’m not talking about the kind that knock you off your feet as you attempt a quiet dip in the sea on a hot summer’s day, no, I’m referring to the relaxed, romantic waves that transform tiresome tresses into simple yet stylish locks.
Redken recommends the new s-shaped wave, which is less about volume and more about smooth and sexy with subtle movement. And don’t forget, you can wear a wave in a pony just as well as an out ‘do.
Start with straight hair (if you have naturally curly hair just roughly run a straightener through the length, with a little extra emphasis on the ends).
Spray hair with a little Redken Spray Starch 15 – this protects hair from heat styling while also helping to retain shape – then, using a medium-sized curling tong, take a section of hair from eye level to mid-lengths and wrap around the tong. This technique will leave the ends straight. Continue repeating this until you’ve done the whole head then gently loosen the waves using your fingertips – this will result in a more tousled curl.
Finish with a spritz of Paul Mitchell Soft Spray – this light-hold hairspray not only gives natural hold but added shine too and it contains natural sunscreens to protect hair from sun damage.
