We Review: 4 newfound beauty essentials

Looking for something new to add to your beauty repertoire? Well, you’re in luck, because this month, beautyheaven has given these four new beauty inventions the tick of approval.

From this one-of-a-kind volume paste that’ll give your hair new life, to this multitasking baby bath time hero, this whitening charcoal toothpaste and this hydration-boosting face mask, these four new finds could be just what you need…

Organic Island Baby Bath Wash & Shampoo

bh’s Bree says:

What initially drew me to this baby bath wash and shampoo was its bright and playful packaging –  always a bonus when getting your kids to try something new. But there is so much more to love about this range than just the packaging. Firstly, I love that it’s formulated in Australia using natural and organic ingredients. When it comes to my little ones, I am very particular about which products I use, and bath time can be a bit crazy with a baby and a toddler, so I find it easier to use the same product for both their hair and bodies. I’m also a fan of washing my children’s hair after daycare, and this wash is gentle enough for everyday use. It doesn’t contain any nasties so daily use won’t dry out their body or scalp. A winner in my household!

Essano Clarifying Clay Masque

bh’s Beth says:

As a skin care editor, I’ve tried a lot of clay masks, but the Essano Clarifying Clay Masque was a first for me. The thing that struck me about it initially was its texture – light and fluffy, like a mousse, which was quite different to the thick clay masks I’m used to. The softer texture meant that the formula glided over my face like a dream.

The mask was really gentle – even as it had dried it still felt quite soft on my face, not tight, which was a plus. I left it on for 15 minutes as per the instructions. For me, the most challenging thing about clay masks is how much time and energy they take to remove. This one was much the same I’m afraid – I recommend using lots of water to wet and rub the mask in with before wiping it away with a cloth, to speed up the process.

Once I had removed the mask and applied my usual moisturising products, my skin looked noticeably clear and bright, but also felt very soft and smooth – more so than usual. All in all, I would say that this is a lovely mask for those with congested, rough and dehydrated skin in need of a hydration boost. The packaging makes it pretty enough to store out in the open on your vanity, so you’ll always remember to use it once a week!

ELEVEN Australia Dry Powder Volume Paste

bh’s Astrid says:

Firstly, you should know that this product is the first of its kind. It’s a matte styling paste that’s designed to recreate second day texture on dry hair by lifting the roots and ading volume and grit. And boy, does it give you volume. The first time I tried this, I was sporting some rather unsightly greasy roots that I was desperate to conceal. With a small amount of the matte paste on my finger tips, I gently massaged the product onto my scalp, and then ran my fingers through the length of my hair.  The paste soaked up the excess oil on my roots almost immediately, while giving the rest of my hair some seriously tousled volume and texture!

The second time I used it, I applied it to my hair after curling to help achieve a more natural, beach-inspired finish. I loved the grittyness it gave to my style – particularly throughout the lengths. There was more volume, more texture, more hair! I often struggle with grease and lack of volume at my roots, but just a quick massage of this made a huge difference. Best of all, the product doesn’t feel sticky or wet, doesn’t weigh my hair down and there’s no pesky white residue marks, either. It’s perfect for touch ups throughout the day as it’s compact which makes it easy enough to throw into my handbag, too. This has been a much more hands-on approach to the way I normally style. I feel like I have more control over how much product I’m applying to my hair, which in turn has made a big difference to the overall look of my style.

White Glo Deep Stain Remover Activated Charcoal Whitening Toothpaste

bh’s Sophie says:

As an avid lover of coffee and red wine, keeping my teeth stain-free is a high priority. I’ve heard about the use of activated charcoal in teeth whitening, so I was excited to try the White Glo Deep Stain Remover Activated Charcoal Whitening Toothpaste. The product comes with a toothbrush that I’ve been using along with the toothpaste twice daily.

When I first used the toothpaste I was expecting it to be dark and have a gritty texture, but it was actually light grey and smooth. It has a light, mint flavour and despite its appearance, it tastes similar to regular toothpaste. I usually brush my teeth for around two minutes, then rinse. Immediately after brushing, my teeth looked nice and bright.  I didn’t expect to notice any whitening from the toothpaste, but after two weeks I swear my teeth are slightly whiter!

I’m really enjoying using this toothpaste everyday. And the added whitening benefits give me peace of mind when I’m enjoying a daily coffee (or two). I would recommend this product to anyone who is in the market for a new toothpaste and has concerns about stains and discolouration on their teeth.
