Is sugar spray the new sea salt spray?

Is sugar spray the new sea salt spray?

Hands up who loves a bit of sea salt spray in their strands? There’s no denying it does a fabulous job at creating tousled, texturised tresses. And while it’s become a staple in our beauty arsenal, there’s always room for dessert…

Enter, sugar spray: sea salt’s sweeter sibling. It contains sugar cane extract, which’ll give you the same surfer-girl texture as sea salt spray – just sans the crunch. With conditioning ingredients such as sunflower seed extract, marine algae and sea kelp combined with conventional styling agents, your waves will be soft to the touch, and will hold for longer.

SO…. SUGAR, OR SALT?

It comes down to your hair type and how you want your waves to feel. If you’re a ‘straight-from-the-sea’ lover who lives for that slightly crunchy texture, stick to sea salt spray (hey, if it ain’t broke…). But if you prefer subtler, softer beach waves, sugar spray might just be a game-changer for you. Ultimately, they both offer perfectly undone texture, just for different kinds of tresses.

HOW DO I GET MY SUGAR FIX?

If you’ve used a sea salt spray before, you’ve got this. Newbies –  fret not, it’s really simple. For tousled waves, focus the spray on the mid-lengths and ends of your damp or dry hair and scrunch in sections. If you’re worried about overdoing it, spray it onto your hands – as opposed to your hair – and then scrunch. A word to the wise: too much sugar spray can make your strands feel sticky, so always go for the “less is more”  approach when applying.
