19 things all girls with pixie cuts can relate to

You know the saying, “The grass is always greener on the other side”? That couldn’t be more accurate for the pixie cut. After spending countless hours brushing out knots and deep conditioning your long hair, nothing sounds better than the idea of cutting it ALL off. But then you do, and you’re back to craving longer hair.
Sound familiar?

From the moment you look in the mirror for the first time, to saying goodbye to your beloved beanie collection, there are so many unexpected highs and lows when it comes to having super cropped hair. Let us take you through the seriously good (and some not so great) times that all you girls with pixie crops will relate to.
In short (pardon the pun), it’s high maintenance, but totally worth it.
THE UPS
Carey Mulligan = hair goals
You’ve been mistaken for her once or twice… from behind… and far, far away.
Shampooing is a total breeze
Can you say ‘head massage?’
The endless search for a hair elastic is a thing of the past
Just one of the many, many issues that comes with having long hair…
Cue the cute hair accessories
Headbands, scarves and sweet bow clips make constant appearances in your beauty repertoire.
Single toned hair is totally excusable
AND DOABLE. There’s no need to pay someone else to do that!
You'll need: NaturStyle Permanent Hair Colourant and ColourB4 Hair Colour Remover Extra (... just in case).
You’ve significantly cut down on costs
Can’t you just feel that holiday breeze?
You’ve single-handedly stopped the clock on ageing
What’s the secret to looking younger? Short hair.
All your drains are officially clog-free!
Your housemates are overjoyed by the good news!
Limited hairstyle options
The good news: a quick slick of the gel and you’re out the door in seconds. Let bh’s Sophia show you how...
THE DOWNS
You’re spending every second Saturday in the salon, to keep it from turning into an “awkward-phase”
#mulletlife
You’re a bystander at slumber parties
On the bright side, while everyone’s busy braiding and styling, you have free reign on the party snacks.
Winter can be a real b*tch
While other girls are keeping cosy with their long hair protecting their necks, yours is turning purple from frostbite.
Limited hairstyle options
The bad news: are you loving these awesome celebrity braids? Forget about it.
You have to use product every day
No really, otherwise you roll out of bed and spend the entire day as a walking Q-tip.
A mimed hair flip just isn’t the same as the real deal
Don’t even bother trying it, you’ll just feel foolish.
Hats are off limits
Wearing one only makes you look bald. SO BALD.
One word: cowlick
No one could have ever properly prepared you for this.
Bad weather days are the stuff of nightmares
Wind is your biggest enemy.
When blemishes arise, there’s nowhere to hide
Just wear it loud and proud, girl.

I don't think this would suit me....my face is too round, and I think it suits younger women more.

The one's who can sport this look by all means go for it & rock it with style. Michelle look's very pretty with this look & it suit's her. I on the other hand love my long hair & would never cut it all off like this I know what suit's me.

I have thick hair and fast growth and did have short hair but that was the days
I find hair grows many other places to keep under control , full stop (wish)
So I let my head hair grow .

Like the short-ness but not the hassle and expense of the frequent salon visits

I used to have short hair...almost a pixie cut 20+yrs ago. I kept it short for ease it was boringly straight as I had a new born. As the boy grew so did my hair...and it was curly. I think bout going back to short hair but I know I have cow licks which can be hard to deal with. At least with long hair I can wash it tonight let it air dry and either put it up or straighten it and go,out. I had to always wash and go when my hair was short

I love my Pixie cut as it is so easy to wear and look after.

I find having short hair can be a drag because there isn't much scope to change the style, and the cut has to be almost perfect all the time. And, of course, the time it takes to style it properly. It must be great to have long hair that can be pulled back or up to suit the occasion, or when time is lacking.

Aehmmm, I think I'll keep my hair longer for the time being. Was considering a short style, even the Pixie but after reading this article, perhaps I'll reconsider. Didn't realise the Pixie was so much effort. Thanks for the article, it saved me from a decision I most likely would have regretted

It's been years since I had a pixie cut - loving the versatility and look of my long hair now, so don't expect I'm returning to a pixie in the near / distant future

No super short hair cut for me please. I have the family physical trait of big ears so my long hair is a cover up...lol

I kinda miss my short hair.. It was so low maintenance & fast drying.. But I guess I'm not really into hair that much..

Always wanted to try a pixie cut but could never work up the guts to take the plunge.

Check your scalp for strange lumpy areas! Then take the plunge! It's so liberating & remember: it always grows back.

Cut down on cost? What cost?
The $100 every 4 weeks at the hairdresser is breaking my wallet
I may just grow my hair long, again!

Lol, these were funny! I like the pixie look but unfortunately I can't pull it off with my thick unruly hair.

I can see the appeal of a pixie cut but it requires way too much maintenance for my liking! I can barely stand cutting my hair once a year let alone every few weeks.

Ahh the Pixie cut! I've just come out of the awkward stage and now have a bob looking thing, long enough to tie up. it's working for me

I used to have a pixie cut when I was a teenager. I was quite a tomboy back then playing cricket with boys and climbing trees.

I never had a pixie cut before as I tend to leave my hair longer, I think many of us have emotional roller coaster days with our hair sometimes.

I can't say that this has ever been an issue for me, but it's a good one to store away for the future.

Yes I have, when I was 16. It was fun, but I thought I looked a bit boyish and all the girls at school suddenly decided I was gay. Very interesting! It was 1998, so long ago :) I'm not sure I would do it again, but it was fun at the time.

Only when I was about four in preschool have seen myself with a pixie cut :). I think their hard to pull off and it really helps if you have great face structure.
