7 party season hairstyles inspired by Euphoria makeup trends

HBO’s latest teen drama Euphoria is winning accolades with critics and fans alike for its raw and gritty plotlines, the cast’s stellar acting chops, and it’s incredibly unique makeup looks.

Unlike any other show on air, Euphoria uses beauty to help drive the narrative and speak to its characters’ deeper elements and psyche. From watercolour shadow to neon eyeliner, head makeup artist Doniella Davy is credited with creating some of the year’s most influential beauty trends, putting colourful looks back on the map after years of shimmery cut creases and nude lips.

And if there was ever a better time to test out some of these emerging trends, it’s during the upcoming party season. With so many events and endless party themes, it would be rude not to break out new colours, textures and techniques.

But if wild makeup isn’t your thing (and admittedly the Euphoria looks can be a bit polarising), we’ve taken some of the show’s most iconic looks and transformed them into wearable party season hairstyles so you can embrace the glitter and grime (without actually putting it on your face).

Rue’s Glitter Tears

Main character Rue’s sparkling tears have become a recurring aspect of her persona and the look itself is completely mesmerising. But if you’d rather not show up to Christmas lunch with glitter glue streaming down your face (or maybe you would – no judgement here!) try channeling the idea in the way of a glitter pony. It’s perfect for any holiday party, and (with the right product) will wash out easily with your next shampoo.

Jules’ Watercolour Eyeshadow

Jules’ watercolour eyeshadow has become one of makeup’s biggest trends of the moment and can be done with many different shadow combinations. If you’re feeling brave this holiday season, why not lean all the way in with watercolour rainbow hair?! Try it for a party (with temporary dye or a really good wig) for a photo opp you won’t regret.

Maddy’s Pearl Liner

Maddy’s signature eyeliner is often created with anything other than eyeliner. Think rhinestones, glitter, stars, and even pearls! If you’re not quite ready to swap out your favourite felt-tip just yet, opt for some pearl hair clips to keep your holiday hair classic yet modern.

Cassie’s Rhinestone Face

Cassie’s look can be summed up in two words: mermaid goddess. This is one of Davy’s most elaborate rhinestones looks, and though this might be ideal for Halloween, a bejeweled hair pin (or two!) is more our speed for the holiday season.

Rue’s Lightning Bolt Eyeliner

Davy created this lightning bolt liner for a powerful scene with Rue and we’re loving the symbolism behind it. To make this look a little more wearable, give yourself a superwoman-inspired ‘do this with lightning bolt hair clips! They’re a fun and simple way to make a bold statement.

Kat’s Red Liner and Bushy Brows

via @donni.davy

via @maneaddicts

Kat’s cat eye featuring a pop of red and bushy brows feels equal parts whimsical and gothic. Re-create this look as a hairstyle with a loose messy bun and red butterfly clips (yes it’s 1996 again). This more casual look is ideal for a holiday BBQ on a hot summer’s day.

Maddy’s Starry Eyes

Jules always puts a unique spin on a fierce cat eye, and this bedazzled starry eye look is no exception. But if the idea of putting carefully placed diamontes in a symmetrical pattern around your eyes scares you as much as it scares us, this dreamy hairstyle with a glittery star headband is the perfect option to try this holiday season.
