MBFWA provides the opportunity for some of Australia’s best hairstylists and makeup artists team up with renowned beauty brands to bring a creative vision to life for a fashion designer. And while sometimes these looks aren’t super wearable for day-to-day life, the stylists and makeup artists behind them are endlessly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft – and know exactly how to adapt these looks for everyday wear, which often sets the beauty trends for the year ahead.

So if you’ve been feeling a little uninspired in your beauty routine lately, this week might be just what you need. And thanks to the power of social media, it’s never been easier to get an up-close look at how these beauty aficionados create these jaw-dropping looks (plus the pro tips and tricks that might just change your beauty life forever).

Here’s our round-up of the Instagram accounts you need to follow for the best MBFWA 2018 beauty coverage…

@beautyheaven

Well, obviously! Thanks to our friends at Burt’s Bees, the beautyheaven Instagram account is your backstage pass to all the biggest and best MBFWA shows. From interviews with the pros, to all the best backstage beauty looks and how to recreate them, we’re there so you don’t have to be (but will still feel like you are!). Beauty vlogger Domenica Calarco (@domenica.calarco) will also be taking over our Instagram Stories on Monday 14th May, so you can see just what goes down for an influencer during fashion week and all the backstage beauty madness that goes with it. Don’t miss it!

@lancomeofficial

Lancôme Director of Artistry Lara Srokowski (@laralovesxo) will be leading the makeup looks for a whopping nine shows this MBFWA, including Camilla & Marc, Macgraw and C/MEO Collective. Expect eye-catching looks that are still chic enough to be worn everyday.

@wellapro_anz

The team at Wella will be offering some major looks courtesy of creative director Renya Xydis (@valonzhaircutters). A fashion week veteran thanks to her always-innovative eye for hair styling, this year Renya will be manning the manes for Wella at the Alice McCall and Romance Was Born shows. An especially important follow for those colour-obsessed beauties out there.

@redken

Hair legends Redken are partnering with top hair professionals for a number of the week’s biggest shows, including Richard Kavanagh (@richardkavanagh) for We Are Kindred and Christopher Esber, Ben Martin (@benmartinhair) for Deadly Ponies and Justin Cassin, and Philip Barwick (@philipbarwick) for Acler and Ten Pieces. Phew! If that’s doesn’t satisfy your hairspo needs, we don’t know what will.

@sebastianproanz

If it’s daring hair looks you’re after, you’ll want to follow these guys. Lead by hairstylist Brodie Lee Stubbins (@brodieleesebastianartist) for the Thomas Puttick show, you can expect gravity-defying, heart-stopping hair feats.

@maccosmeticsaustralia

Always serving makeup looks that are talked about long after the runways are done, this year M.A.C will be well represented by makeup artists Nicole Thompson (@pinkiiieee) and Carol Mackie (@carol_mackie). Look out for their colourful, trend-setting work at the Bianca Spender, Alice McCall, Deadly Ponies, Client Liaison and Ten Pieces shows.

@elevenaustralia

ELEVEN Australia’s Education Ambassador Melvin Royce Lane will be styling the hair for the Blair Archibald show. Being a structured, utilitarian label that’s all about wearability, we reckon these looks will be some of the week’s most adaptable for everyday hair.

@love_kevin_murphy

KEVIN.MURPHY is working with two Edwards and Co star hairstylists this year, Jayde Turner-Ledwidge (@jaydehairstylist) and Byron Turnbull (@byronturnbull) for the Macgraw and Anna Quan shows. Both talented young stylists, we’re bound to see some unforgettable hair moments from these two.

Who will you be following for MBFWA this year?
