Trend we love: XXL locks

Long hairstyles are always in fashion but in 2017 hairstyles for long hair went to extreme lengths. Possibly in response to the short hair trend that’s dominated red carpets and social media feeds for the past two years, long hair has seen a massive resurgence amongst the stylish set.

The long hair look evokes the 70s vibe that has been seen all over the runways in recent seasons. Pioneered by Cher decades ago and championed by the likes of Naomi Campbell in the 90s, the look is sleek, sexy and just a little bit excessive.

Want to try some extra long hairstyles on for size? We’ve rounded up all the best celebrity inspo, just waiting to be shared with your hairdresser (or in my case, a hair extensions specialist!).

Cher

The original (and arguably the best!) of the long-haired lasses, Cher was rocking this look long before wigs and hair extensions had permeated the mainstream. Grow your hair long by using a dedicated shampoo and conditioner.

Naomi Campbell

Naomi’s effect on the fashion and beauty industry has been endless, but her XXL tresses from the 90s are legendary. It’s not known how Naomi got her locks to this mind-boggling length, but we wouldn’t be surprised if she popped hair supplements on the regular.

Kim Kardashian West

Kim is notorious for changing up her hair length, but her super-long hair seems to be a clear favourite this year. She recently made the move from brunette to platinum blonde (again!).

Rihanna

The queen of hair trends has been loving longer locks recently. Whether it’s styled wavy, straight or up in an extremely long high ponytail, Rihanna owns the length. Keeps strands healthy by brushing them regularly with a good hairbrush.

Beyoncé

Long hair can be a bit of a drag, so nobody would’ve blamed Beyoncé for going shorter during her pregnancy with Sir and Rumi. Ever the diva, Beyoncé rocked long strands all the way to the maternity ward.

Ariana Grande

She’s famous for her high ponytail, but Ariana Grande has definitely upsized it in recent months. A hairspray keeps everything smooth and sleek without weighing it down or getting the dreaded ‘crunchy’ effect.
