Celebrities who rock frizzy hair and why you should embrace it

Since what feels like forever, we’ve been taught to banish the frizz and fluff – by any means necessary: Regularly using heat tools, investing in pricey serums and locking those locks into a bun as soon as the heat rises. Yep, you name it we’ve done it, all in vain of a frizz-free mane. Well, forget that noise. Hot on the heels of low-maintenance hair crazes like bed hair and regrowth, trust us when we say that for 2016, frizzy hair is so in, and we’re about to embrace the hell out of it.

In fact, you can thank these nine women for cutting your hair some slack, not to mention the below four reasons to vote pro-frizz:

Solange Knowles

The queen of cool-girl frizz, Solange is quickly cementing herself as one seriously hot contender for 2016’s most coveted beauty icons. She even made the frizz her go-to wedding style!

Sarah Jessica Parker

A nod to her Carrie Bradshaw heydays, SJP is all about embracing her natural texture.

Natasha Lyonne

Much like her character on Orange Is The New Black, Natasha’s wavy, puffy tresses are untamed in the best way.

Chrissy Teigen

Take one lingerie model, add a whole ‘lotta hair, and you get one seriously fabulous female.

Rihanna

RiRi’s ‘do is subject to change, but we love it most when she sports its natural texture.

Rihanna

Shakira

The singer’s notoriously curly mane has always been her signature accessory.

Beyoncé

We can’t imagine any hairstyle would look bad on Queen Bey so of course, unruly frizz still manages to make her look like a total beach babe. Hair envy, who us? Never…

Esperanza Spalding

Esperanza’s fabulous fro is a nod to her career as a jazz bassist, cellist and singer. A musical prodigy, the girl works it on stage.

Nicki Minaj

This look is fierce! Cementing her place as one of the toughest in the biz, Nicki rocks big hair like nobody else. If hair could talk, Nicki’s would dish so much attitude.

It gives naturally straight hair more body… Even though it might just be an illusion, when you have thin hair, you want all the help you can get to boost volume and body, so let your frizz fly. Be wary of heavy products that tend to weigh down hair – like heavy frizz control creams, and opt for something lighter like a hairspray or dry shampoo to give you more body.   You don’t have to worry about the weather messing with your ‘do…  Leaving your umbrella at home isn’t such a tragedy if you haven’t just spent an hour styling and sealing, only to have your hair increase in mass the instant the air pressure drops. Sadly, we can’t control the weather, nor can we tell how much precipitation will play a role in changing our hair – so if your locks are already naturally quite textured, just sit back and let it do its thing. Don’t fight it, roll with it. Trust us, you’ll be much less frustrated if you do than if you try and wrangle it into a sleeker style. Bed hair is much easier to maintain… Textured hair is arguably one of the easiest trends to master (and if you’re a lazy girl, your number one go-to style), so doesn’t it make sense to work with already slightly unruly hair? It’s like unintentional styling! Sometimes all you need is a little bit of teasing here and there, and then just let your frizz do the texturising. Say hello to instant texture… We’re all chasing more in the hair department, so when you’re sporting a little frizz, work with it, not against it. There’s no denying tousled, imperfect hair is effortlessly on trend. Plus, it’ll give your updos more grip for the perfectly disheveled messy bun. Do you embrace your frizzy hair?
