Getting married in 2016? Congratulations to you! While you might have the dress, shoes and flowers down pat, choosing a bridal beauty look for the day can often be the most daunting task of all.

But brides-to-be, don’t be alarmed. We’re here to make your life easier. To help you perfect your bridal ‘do, we’ve enlisted the help of Australian Bridal Hair Expert Lizzie Liros, who has some major bridal hairspo tips. According to Lizzie, 2016 bridal hair is all about “soft, natural texture with lots of movement” where “nothing is structured” and “simplicity is key”.

So with that in mind, let’s look at this year’s best bridal hairstyles. Whether you fancy yourself a traditionalist or prefer to keep it casual-cool, we’ve collated the best Hollywood matrimonial manes we vow you’ll adore, ‘til death do you part.

THE HOLLYWOOD BRIDE

Soft, loose Hollywood waves are at the forefront of bridal beauty this year. “I’m finding brides are wanting simplicity and natural hairstyling”, says Lizzie, with Lauren Conrad setting the bar for simple elegance. To get her dreamy look, Lizzie recommends using a curling wand before brushing them out to make them soft and loose.

THE ROCK ‘N’ ROLL BRIDE

Who could forget that oversized hat that topped the head of Bianca Jaggers’s bouncy brunette locks? Brushed out barrel curls, 70s side part, major back combing and statement accessories – this look is the epitome of 70s rock and roll, and clearly a major influence for the Georgine runway. To get the look, Lizzie says you need to blow-dry your hair with round brushes then leave it to cool before taking them out for a bouncy, full finish.

THE BOHO BRIDE

Think effortless, casual and perfectly undone tresses, a boho bride has just the right amount of edge and femininity. Take a cue from Jane Birkin, whose effortless and undone style is perfectly adorned with a floral garland. But don’t let the hair accessories stop there. From Margherita Missoni’s own wedding, to the Diane Von Furstenberg S/S16 NYFW show, the bohemian bride is one who plays with texture and colour.

THE CLASSIC BRIDE

If Jackie Kennedy is your muse, then channel her style and keep it simple. A softened and pulled back look never goes out of style and will allow your dress to steal the show. Maintain a bit of body and volume à la Carey Mulligan to create a look that won’t appear over-set or outdated.

THE MODERN BRIDE

Tousled and carefree, this is a style for the modern trendsetter who likes to take a risk, and begs the question, “Is there a style too informal to dub bridal?” While Lizzie calls this the 2016 bridal trend to watch, if you want to up the look while still keeping it minimal, take a leaf (pun intended) out of Whitney Port’s books and keep it pretty, modern and simple with a twist.

For Olivia Palermo’s textured pony, start with day old hair. Then, Lizzie says you’ll need a curling wand to curl the hair before creating a ponytail, leaving strands around the face free for a softer, more effortless look.
