Here are our 5 top dry shampoos for faking fresh hair

It’s our go-to when dirty hair needs to be disguised as being clean, or flat hair wants to pretend it’s voluminous and textured. Yes, you guessed it, it’s our beloved dry shampoo. Just as the name describes, this light, powder-like spray will create fresh yet lived-in hair without a single drop of water.

So for those who are short on time, need a refresh after a gym session or are simply trying to resist washing their hair every day, keep a can (or four) of dry shampoo close, spritz away (don’t be shy) and massage into oily or lifeless roots as required.
Not all dry shampoos are created equal though, and so to help you find one that successfully absorbs excess oil without weighing down your hair or leaving a chalky, grey mess all over the roots, here are our top five dry shampoos.
Batiste Dry Shampoo - Blush
With a 4-star rating and over 440 member reviews, Batiste’s Dry Shampoo in the scent Blush takes out the #1 spot.
The water-less formulation absorbs dirt, oil and product build-up to gently refresh hair while leaving it with a light and floral scent made up of red hibiscus, orange and peony.
You say: “Freshens hair and it's so gentle, leaving my locks clean and not weighed down. Wonderful to use in between washes and it adds body and texture without the need for water.” - beauty fan 69

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk
Extend the life of your latest blowdry, or recruit the highly absorbent powder from Klorane to decrease the frequency of ‘hair wash day’. It’s formulated with oat milk to restore freshness, lightness and regain instant texture.
You say: “This one is much finer and distributes much more easily through the hair. It feels like it absorbs more oils as I have to use much less of this dry shampoo.” - Bun

A’kin Dry Shampoo
If you need something a little more heavy-duty, A’kin’s dry shampoo absorbs four times more oil than most competitor products on the market. The 100 per cent vegan formula leaves hair full and fresh without any residue build-up.
You say: “I have tried many dry shampoos and not many have worked for me, but this is just perfect. The spray is even and strong, it gets all my roots easily. It doesn't leave a white cast at all. It absorbs all my oils and any smells but doesn't make my hair feel dry or gritty or dirty.” - bebeautiful34

Have tried the Klorane and Hairdressers Formula Dry shampoos, I don't use them that often though.

Batiste is the only one on this list that I've used, guess I'll stick with it.

I love dry shampoos and use them every second day! The Batiste ones are all awesome and I also love the Umberto Giannini one.. I've been using some Polished London ones, but they aren't anywhere near as good.

I have tried the Cedel dry shampoo for light hair and it is quite good. It tends to make your hair a lighter colour though even if you brush your hair very thoroughly after applying it! I have used fine talcum powder in the past and it always worked well.

I tried a dry shampoo a few times but it did nothing for my scalp or hair. They probably work better for people with oily hair. For me, nothing beats washing my hair in the shower.
