Cindy Crawford Almost Had Her Beauty Spot Removed (Until She Received A Warning From Her Mum)

In an ideal world, we’d all be remembered for our greatest achievement and not our most notable physical feature. But when we’re only seeing celebrities in red carpet photos or walking down runways, it’s often all we’ve got to go off.

Just think, in a quick-fire round of Family Feud we’re going to assume the name Brooke Shields would be met with a flurry of synonyms for “eyebrows”. As would Heidi Klum and the word “legs”. Which just by the way, are both insured for over $1 million each.

And in the case of Cindy Crawford? Well that beauty spot has had an entire career in its own right. However, when she was just a teenager, her now-asset was once viewed as her greatest flaw. Say what?!

“On my first day of high school, someone shouted, “Hey Little Crawford, you have chocolate on your face,” she recalled to The Wall Street Journal.

It was this very moment that prompted her to seek advice on getting the iconic beauty spot permanently removed.

“She didn’t say no and said we could talk to a doctor,” Cindy said. But before it even got to that point, “she said, ‘you don’t know what the scar will look like, but you know what the beauty mark looks like now.'”

So, it stayed! And we’re so glad that it did.

  1. I know a couple of people who prefer to keep a mole rather than risk a scar. I also have friends who have had moles removed from their face and I cannot see any scars when they are make up free.

  2. I have a large birth mark under my right breast. The doctor has confirmed that it’s not unsafe but every year when I have my skin check, doc asks me if I want to have it removed. It doesn’t bother me, so no it can stay.

  3. Cindy’s mole makes her stand out – in a good way!

If I’ve got a raised zit, I cover it with a brown eyebrow pencil to make it look like a mole – concealer makes it look like a wart, so a little mole looks better than a zit or wart.
